I want to start by saying, what a privilege it has been to get to know you in particular here Braunwyn. I have great respect and admiration for you and your very fine mind.

Right now I also have extreme gratitude for your kind words above. Thank you for seeing me.

It has been my observation that tone of voice does not always easily transfer to the written word. Because of this, unfortunately, sometimes some of us find ourselves misunderstood.

It would never be my intent to imply that I feel I am somehow superior to anyone else here.

I simply view myself as a traveler who may have gotten further down the road than others here at this point in time.

I want to apologize to anyone who feels as though my attempts to share what I have learned on that journey felt like judgement or condemnation. I was just often so anxious to share what I know in an effort to make life easier for some than I myself had it.

My list of "20" is below.

Since this may be my last post here for a while, I hope anyone reading will overlook the fact that I went over 20. Peace

Christ follower
happy, blessed wife
proud mom
patriotic
loyal friend
involved in feeding 150 hungry kids every week
cat rescuer
cares deeply
loves passionately
talks too fast
peacemaker
relationship investor
medical/teaching backgrounds
will talk to anyone
Libertarian
American History buff
PTSD survivor
real estate hobbyist
mountain lover
well intentioned, but flawed
anthropology minded
tender hearted
work in progress
grateful - especially for the friends I have found here

How can anyone begin to write a post that will be anything but insignificant after reading this above post, written by my very good friend lovesMountains? Dear lady, please don't let this be your last post, City-Data will not be the same without you. I suspect many of us understand how you feel. I read more than I post these days and the reason is I see so many posts that are just idiotic in nature and I feel it is better to bite my tongue than write what I think and hurt someone's feelings. After reading your list it is easy to recognize the woman, who so many of us have come to love and respect, a woman who it seems always has the right answers.

Dewdrop93, thank you for starting this wonderful thread, it has helped many of us better understand our fellow C-D posters. I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to write down "your 20", I hope you also have pictures displayed so we can actually see who we are writing to...

My list is as follows:

01 Male (older than dirt) 5'10" 212 lbs
02 Graduate of High school, US Air Force Military Schools, and college of hard knocks
03 Former Prudential Insurance Salesman, Oregon State Police Trooper
04 Retired business owner (I do not like unions or anyone who promotes mediocrity among workers)
05 Married to an almost perfect blonde woman, have 3 kids & 1 deceased son, 2 cats and 1 dog
06 Christian, but I do not attend church on a regular basis, but I pray often
07 Politically I'm conservative, meaning I would like to keep most of the money I make.
08 I'm a music lover, former DJ and owner of many CD's & Albums and I love to dance
09 Food lover, I love cooking, I collect recipes and cook books and savor tastes
10 Wine lover, prefer almost anything that is red, tour wineries and tasting rooms often
11 Born and raised on a small cattle ranch in Southern Oregon
12 Enjoy most outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, camping, life member of NRA and four shooting clubs
13 Enjoy traveling, short day trips, week long visits to the Oregon Coast, cruises on Princess Lines
14 Home owner for most of my adult life, own condo in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
15 Photo hobbyist, electronics/radio hobbyist, computer nerd, I love to tinker with lots of things
16 I like motor vehicles and own three pickup trucks, a Chevy Suburban, and an ATV
17 I like firearms and gun shows, buying, selling, trading and just fondling my favorites
18 I'm an extrovert and enjoy many friendships, but I haven't always been outgoing
19 I enjoy helping other people when I can, even when it involves spending money and time
20 Sad movies bring a tear to my eye

You grew up on a farm in Oregon and I grew up in NYC, yet there are about a dozen things about you on your list that we share in common. Just goes to show that it doesn't matter where you are from or what your background is, people are very similar wherever you go and they shouldn't be judged by demographics. I see so many generalized statements about people from the city or country, people from the north or down south, but when you get right down to it we are all just as similar as we are unique. Good to know you NR!
