That's a very good reason to get married. LM's post was spot on.
Married couples should also be the very best of friends. Even if it only lasts 10 years, that's great for the kid.

No wonder kids come from so many fatherless homes and are screwed up. Our grandparents were right that when they made a kid, they did the right thing and tried to take care of the kid
In a marriage, the "love" will ebb and flow. The honeymoon love will disappear eventually. Times will change, you will change, feelings will evolve...and what holds you together as the tides change is your commitment and your deeply ingrained friendship (which btw, involves love). Also good sex helps.

You two have the foundations for a good marriage: compatability, friendship, respect, and you like each other. These things are more important than gushy, butterflies-in-the-stomach feelings associated with falling in love. That doesn't last for long anyway.
Make a life for yourselves together and give the child a stable, loving home. Don't enter this new chapter of your lives with baby mama/baby daddy complications.
