The bedouins of the Sahara desert have been sipping hot tea in the summer for millennia.
When it gets hot and muggy here (like it is right now) I sip hot coffee for breakfast, I sip hot broth for lunch, and have a modest dinner after sunset.
I'm doing my errands later and later too - late afternoon, early evening, if I can help it.
This time of year my favorite time of day is early morning. Dawn. I also link evenings. Once you plow through the heat of the day. Mountains would be the idea place to be. Up high with crisp air. That is the one thing I like about August. It is hot, but he air had a different feel about it. Like some of the sting is out.
We have had a few real bad heat waves and to keep the house from getting too hot, I have been grilling more. I started making shish kabobs and I threw the fruits and veggies on the grill so not just onions, peppers and pineapple, but I threw on some nectarines and watermelon on the grill too and I have to say the grilled nectarines and grilled watermelon was much better tasting than I expected which now has me wondering what other fruits and veggies I should have been grilling all of this time.
So if you have any favorite recommendations here, I am interested.
grilling vegetables for us includes asparagus, zucchini/summer squash, cobs of corn, eggplant, mushrooms (technically a fungus, but you get it), tomatoes, onions, bell peppers/anaheim chiles, hearts of romaine; fruits include peaches, nectarines, plums, pineapple, citrus of any kind.
