Obviously, God did not just go around killing people willy-nilly and had a purpose for it, so He's not a murderer.

Granted, we may not like or agree with, or even understand His purposes, but He is who He is and we can either accept that, or waste time raging against the machine.
I'm trying to remember that bible passage where Moses talks God out of killing some people. I think it was over them worshiping a golden calf. God acted more like hot-headed punk than, well, a god.

From what I've read, some take murdering as being worse than killing. So if you are killing people legally (ie, police officers, soldiers), then it's not murder.

Murder is always wrong; killing, not neccesarily.

Is killing in self-defense wrong? To kill someone that would kill you?

The actual translation is Thou Shall Not Murder. And murder is an act that happens without cause. Killing can happen and is legal if there is a valid reason.

Good, since murder is exactly what Bible god is guilty of.

God gives life and God takes life. And God has the right to do that. However mockers who like to accuse God of murder will never understand that. And until they can create a universe themselves, I would suggest they hold up on accusing God.

With the exception of genocide (the great flood), God didn't really do the killing, God was smart and forced others to kill for God. God had the bears come and kill the children for making fun of a bald man, now just how insane is that. So let that be an example to all children, you laugh at a bald man and you'll get eaten by bears.
