Nice to see you venturing out from the safety of the Christian forum. Look out!! It's hot out here in the real world.
God told us in His prophecies that He would allow the Jewish people to return to Israel in the latter years. And that is because they polluted His name wherever they went. God is not pleased with the Jewish people. The Jewish people were given the right to return not only by God, but by the United Nations. Yet Israels neighbors tried to drive them out of the land from the beginning. So bloodshed is going to happen. God tells us that near the time of the end, many nations will attack them. Yet God will step forward at this time, and will protect them. Ezekiel 38.
If God wanted the Jews to return to the Holy Land, He wouldn't have used violence to get them there.
Man uses violence to get his way. But God's ways are Higher than man's ways.
Doesn't it strike you as a bit strange that Israel has only been able to exist using guns and bombs? Doesn't that "tell you something?"
Think of it this way: If the American Indians came to your city and declared that the land belonged to them hundreds of years ago, and they "want it back," just what do you suppose the US people would do? Would they say, "ok, here it is; I'll move to the next state." ??

Th guns and bombs thing only tells me that in spite of Israel's right to exist as a single Nation somewhere on the planet; this right IS possibly to be determined environmentally correct-er, if you know What I mean.
Then as Christy pointed out, what the hell is the point of your man-god telling you that you must do something that you cannot possibly do?
Jesus did that, because the Jews of that time believed the Law alone would save them. So Jesus expanded on the Law showing them how close they would have to follow it in order to secure Salvation. He raised the bar so high, it became obvious to the Jews that no one could be that good. And that was the point Jesus wanted to make. And this is the reason we read verses like this one.
Romans 3:20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law, rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
Some Jews actually listened to the Roman authorities without deciding to obey the Law. What they might have obeyed instead was the oracles and the professional associations.
Wanting to be perfect is one thing. Yet Christ tells us, (WE SHOULD BE AS PERFECT AS THE FATHER IN HEAVEN).
WHO CAN BE AS PERFECT AS GOD?
Jesus laid down a list of things to do which would be impossible for a human to fulfill. If you consider the entire message of Christ found in the Scriptures. It becomes clear that Jesus is telling us that good works will not lead one to heaven. And Romans 3:23 tells us. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And that verse pretty much eliminates us being as perfect as God.
So in your estimation...Jesus was a whack job and didn't really know what He was talking about?????????????
Jesus was showing the Jewish people that if they wanted the law to save them. They would have to live a perfect life. He told them they needed to be as perfect as the Father in heaven.
Who can be as perfect as the Father in heaven?
No one is twisting anything.
Romans 3:23
(FOR ALL HAVE SINNED, AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD)
If we are all sinners, then we can never be as perfect as God. And that should be obvious. Salvation will not be earned by the works of the Law. Salvation comes to us through the person of Jesus Christ who lived a perfect life. And He became the blood sacrifice, who died for the sins of the world.
It is non Christians who do not have a command of the Scriptures. Thus they build their arguements only by pulling verses out of context. While they ignore the full Biblical message.
We all can....Jesus showed us the Way....Jesus said it was not only possible but that we should actually be doing it...why do Christians think He was lying about that???????????? Why do Christians ignore the teachings that are too hard and require them to do some actual cleaning house from within????????????
The last few days, It has been made crystal clear to me (on several threads) that Christians either don't understand, believe, trust or have faith in the teachings of Jesus AT ALL...Christians really don't want to walk the walk to affect real change in this world. Easy believeism is the rule...cause hey...it's just easy.

Well when God allowed the Jewish people to enter the promise land. He used violence when he destroyed pharoahs army. So your belief is without foundation. The difference between the American Indians and the Jewish people. Is there is no written record of God giving the American Indians America. And in fact, some say they got the land after they killed off the Mound Builders. However, in the case of the Jewish people. Scripture tells us the land was given to them by God. And the God of the Bible tells us, He would allow their return in the Latter Days. It's not about what we would say. It is about what God has already told us.
