Hello guen,
I now understand Islam's no original sin, thank you so much. Please help me to understand how man's sins are forgiven him. For, I have read, ......their hearts have been sealed by the sins they have accumulated” (Quran 83:14). Additionally, Allah says that “you counted it a little thing, while with Allah it was very great” (Quran 24:15).

How can you know when your hearts have been sealed by Allah or when your sin is too great?

What is shirk? Can it be forgiven?

Thank you.

There are some people on earth that whatever have been said to them, they do not understand and change their view on matters which are wrong. It is almost as if they are blind or deaf. Some people goes so ahead on being evil and arrogance against Allah, their perception have been blocked. So they are no longer able to understand the good intent of people around them. A perfect example of this was Pharaoh which was the enemy of Moses. He claimed that he was a god, and despite warnings have been given to him, he was blinded with arrogance.

The very fact that one still has awareness that he is a being that might have some faults and is in need of guidance from Allah, is the meaning that his heart is not sealed.

People has two sophisticated things given to them. One is mind; which works with the mechanism of ''similiarities''. for example a man who is blind since birth, can not understand what the color of ''red'' is or can not see his mothers' face, that is because his mind has never experienced something ''similiar'' to red or a face. Second sophisticated thing on humans is ''heart'' Heart is a higher thing than mind and works with the mechanism of ''witnessing'' So a blind man, despite that he never see it, can love his mother's face. Believing is a work of heart so if your heart is selaed, that means you are no longer able to believe. that is why the words one must say when he decided to be a muslim, are called ''the words of witnessing''. That is a reference to heart and its mechanism of working.

As for shirk: shirk means not accepting that Allah is the only one worthy of worship. In quran, Allah says that the shirk is the only thing he will not forgive.

As for the forgiveness from sins; as long as we live, door to repentence is open. Moreover, if one thinks that his sins are too big to be forgiven, that is a sign of arrogance. Because humans are not capable of committing sin, that is bigger than the sea of grace of Allah. On Mirajj(prophet muhammad was raised by Allah to himself on a night and sent back to mecca) Allah said to Prophet Muhammad; ''Look to your right.''
There Prophet saw a sea, a tree, and a little bird on the branch of tree. There was a little piece of dirt on the beak of bird. Allah said: The sea is my grace, tree is the World, bird is the humanity, and the little piece of dirt on its beak is the sins of all people. Can this little piece of dirt cloud my sea of grace? You are the intercessor to sins and i am the merciful of mercifuls...

Also i have to say, during his lifetime, a person is responsible to believe in these 6 things:
1- Allah is the only one to worship
2- Allah's prophets(all of them from Adam to Muhammad)
3-The books sent by Allah via his Prophets
4 Destiny
5-Day of judgement and aferlife
6- Angels.
İf a person is given warning and information, he will be responsible for believing them. Or he will not be of salvation...

What this does is leave the concept of sin where it belongs, within the person themselves,
then it becomes a moral issue and not a religious one.

I've always been enthralled with the Gospel of Mary. She was a real Gnostic women's libber. Two commentators summed her perfectly.

Mary's Gospel is divided into two parts. In the first she recounts conversations with Jesus. In the second she recounts her vision of Jesus's revelation to her. When she relates her special revelation to Peter and Andrew they are unconvinced and a confrontation occurs.

From The Complete Gospels, Karen King says:
Quote:
"...the Gospel of Mary communicates a vision that the world is passing away, not toward a new creation or a new world order, but toward the dissolution of an illusory chaos of suffering, death, and illegitimate domination. The Saviour has come so that each soul might discover its own true spiritual nature, its 'root' in the Good, and return to the place of eternal rest beyond the constraints of time, matter, and false morality."
From Nag Hammadi Library in English
Quote:
"Christ teaches that sin is not a problem of moral ignorance so much as a manifestation of imbalance of the soul," says James Robinson, Professor Emeritus of Religion at Claremont Graduate University. "Christ then encourages the disciples to spread his teachings and warns them against those who teach of spirituality as an external concept rather than as an internal, Gnostic experience," says Robinson.
Go girls!

These names are called ''Esma ul husna''; that means ''The names of the beautiful''. Everything in the universe(everything Allah has ever created) are actually extensions of one or several of these names. Among the ''created ones'' human is the most superior and honorable one. that is because ''human'' bears all the names of Allah, not just one or several. But the difference is that, these names are ''ultimate and infinite'' in
Allah, and ''limited'' in humans. For example: one of the names of Allah is ''The Shafii''. That means ''The one who gives a cure and healing. Allah is the ultimate and infinite cure giver. But a doctor is also ''shafii'' and a cure giver, but the doctor is limited in his cure giving ability. So the name ''Shafii'' is limited in doctor, unlike Allah.

As for the concept of evil and hell:

Because the universe and everything Allah has ever created are actually extensions of Allah's names, there is nothing as ''evil'' in truth. Because among Allah's names, there is no ''evil''. So the concept of evil as we know is actually ''absence'' All the evil things we know comes from ''not doing something'' or ''not being something'' Evil things do not have a hand in creation and construction of universe. Actually, evil is about destroying
or corrupting...

Among Allah's names, there is ''Adl''. That means ''The Just''. Humans are entrusted with a very great mission on earth, by Allah. That mission is to represent Allah on Earth, among other creations of Allah. İf some human defile that mission and bring bad things upon creations of Allah, that must bring some punishment. ''Adl(the just)'' name of Allah requires this punishment. Because of the enormity of importance of his mission on earth as a represantative of Allah, defiling that mission can cause big consequences.
For example: lets think a ruler entrusted his ships to a man. His duty is to protect the ships from fire. İf he defile his mission and simply go to sleep, ships may burn and the entire fleet may turn to ashes. Just by sleeping, a very big consequence has been brought. That is because the importance of the mission of man. And The ruler is right to punish this man beacause of his sleeping, the act was simple but intent of evil and consequence was bigger than the act. That is identical to humans, their missions and their reward and punishment. Being just requires that.

Moreover, Allah says in The Quran, repeatedly, that his grace and forgiveness has surpassed his wrath. So Allah intents to create ways for us to come back to him with a love of him in our hearts. Allah is not trying to punish us. Allah wants all of us to rise up and fullfill our potentials.

Also the life of heaven and life of hell actually begins while we are still living this life of earth. Because all the good feelings that we have are actually a little example or a litle model of the grace, joy and beauty that we have in heaven. And, all the bad feelings we have are examples of the life of hell...Because the biggest punishment is being in oblivion, to be restricted from the joy of being near to our creator and his loved ones . Once we see the real beauty and grace of Allah in the afterlife, there will not be a single person who feel not regretful. The real heaven is being with Allah and his loved servants forever, not some gardens or rivers(of course there are still gardens and rivers etc...)

Just like existence of the fire is not evil, but using the fire for bad things causes the ''evil'' and using the fire for good things causes ''good''; concept of ''evil'' in our lifes does not mean God is imperfect. That means we are imperfect because we use things that exists for evil and run from our duties and defile our misiions as God's representatives on earth...

There is no contradicition between hell and infinite mercy, true justice, and wisdom with its balance and absence of waste. Indeed mercy justice and wisdom requires hell's existence. Because the ones who defile other's rights must be punished. And a disbeliever would transgress the rights of The Names of Allah, denies all the creations' testimony to these divine names and violates their rights, denies these creations' very high and important appointments and commitments to these names and defile their rights, and denies that these cretions being the mirrors and manifestations of these names and deny the very purpose of the creation of universe(everything). Because Allah lets us know that one of the purposes of the creation of everything by Allah is this: Allah wants to watch and witness himself from his servants' and creatures' eyes... ( Of course Allah knows it better, i am just speaking by the knowledge given to me, which is little) This is why humans are very precious, because humans can witness Allah's glory and beauty and power on a highest level, higher than even the angels... And by disbelieving, these functions goes to waste, and so is a crime against purpose of creation...and also against the rights of other creations(like animals or inanimate objects etc...) and their purpose.

Of course, a person will be held responsible for believing or disbelieving if he/she has been given warnings and information of mind and heart...
On another thread, i used a wrong word and said that Allah did not create evil. This was a wrong statement. i corrected it on the ''Humans and universe'' thread.

Which, I'm afraid, forces me to say that I believe it matters not what god one worships, or whether one worships any god at all.

What matters is doing the best you can to be an asset to the community/planet/universe.
