I am sure that a kindly stranger would be more than happy to carry your safe to the car but it probably wouldn't be your car.

I can't imagine they'd ever evacuate Baltimore. Impossible. I think we still have FEMA trailers in place along the creeks (from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isabelle). BTW, I ran to several stores after posting. No batteries or flashlights. However, I did purchase 15 power bars and two bottles of wine. That should suffice.

This is surreal. Evacuated a medical building on Tuesday (earthquake) and now "preparing" for a hurricane. If I didn't have dogs, I'd just plan on spending the "hurricane days" in bed. Preferably drugged.

When is the Baltimore area supposed to start feeling the storm?

Grab those pups, power bars and wine () and head west, my friend. What a week you've had

9:15 in Southern New England - we are having a horrific windy downpour with deep thunder and lightning. I hope my roof holds up. This, just after the earthquake that rattled our nerves. Hell fire and brimstone...

My daughter, who is currently in Morgantown, WV, suggested the same. But I don't want to deal with the dogs "on the road."

Honestly, I wasn't weirded out during the quake. The waiting room chairs were dancing across the floor and the ceiling tiles and lights were doing their thing. If it weren't for my 85 year old father, I might have hung around. It was a new experience for me so I was cool with it.

I'm not worried about hurricane winds or floods either. I just don't want to deal with it. Blah. But thanks for the warm thoughts!

I'm not sure when we are supposed to start feeling it, but I think it's supposed to "hit" us on Sunday...which is why I'm sitting here playing on the computer. As you may recall, I'm the procrastinator.

If I'm lucky, the procrastination will work in my favor and the hurricane will veer to the East before it passes the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.

Brace yourself for the weekend. I'm from Boston and I called my sister who lives on the South Shore and warned her to take any hurricane warnings seriously. Even a Category 1 is a very strong storm.

Wow, do I need to read over 4,600 posts? I guess I should at least familiarize myself with this thread, but I wanted to say hi to everyone. I was planning to retire to a warm and sunny place but after living in Florida for more than 17 years, I am dying to jump into a pile of snow!
