Only conservatives care about crime. Oh yes, and only democratic cities have crimes. Crime doesn't exist everywhere regardless of political affiliation and it surely does not exist in politically red districts/cites. If a large city with hundreds of thousands of people has meth heads, prostitutes, weed dealers and everything in between it must mean the populace votes blue because those types of crimes wouldn't be here if it was strongly conservative. Whats that? Texas is strongly conservative.... but... but.... but..... still wouldn't happen. Shame on San Antonio. The problems we have are only because San Antonio votes blue. Yep, you heard it here first on these forums folks. There is the truth of it.

A good portion of people do not like Republican Ted Cruz, not because of his political views but because of his attitude and his treatment of people. As a whole though, both with Texas and across the nation, as the older population dies off each year that is less votes for the (Grand Old Party) conservative party. The younger generation overwhelmingly votes blue. Thats why we are seeing gradual shifts from red to purple and blue

That's interesting … My impression and experience is quite contrary to that. Friend and business associate of mine who met him and chatted briefly with him during this last campaign said this... He is an incredibly humble man and has a keen awareness of the hurdles that small Texas Business Owners face. He is the right man for the job to represent Texans in DC.
Guess it all depends on your perspective and what you expect from your elected Senators and representative's. As a Conservative I have never been one looking for them to bring home the bacon, rather have them cut the pork.

It has military bases but i dont consider it a military ciyy. Its a tourist city thats for sure. As for the hispanic part, being generations removed doesnt make someone vote red.

How can a voter can vote for Abbott and Beto at the same time? Seems to be a very uniformed person or they were not voting on issues but style. Who knows.
The voters who voted Beto and Abbott ARE the informed voters. They voted candidate, not party for once.

They voted Beto because Cruz hasn't done crap for Texas and did not deserve a second term. Those voters also wanted someone who would stand up to the president and his stupid games and not lick his boots. They voted Abbot because the Dem candidate wasn't all that hot and Abbott has done a decent job in most areas. Or that's what all my TX GOP friends tell me. Some are in SA, some in Houston, and some in Dallas.

It's apparent you've never been to Europe or you'd know many European countries are far more culturally diverse than the U.S. And most of US law is based on English law. Or did you miss civics class too? As for moving to countries with universal health care - most have more stringent immigration laws than we do. Which is the one thing we do need to improve on - better immigration laws. What worked in 1919 sure as hell doesn't work in 2019. And this is coming from a liberal.

I guess they all live near me. We have more than enough immigrants as a country, legal or otherwise.
