Thanks for the info. I live in PA so I've gone to the Menlo Park one for takeout and have dined at their sister restaurant in PA (Coconuts) - which, food wise, isn't as good as the original takeout.

Correction: San Jose used to be boring back in 2005, not now. The honor goes to Charlotte and runner up: Jacksonville

Heh, interesting you mention Jacksonville. I've said more than once that it's the San Jose of Florida (although it has more crime than SJ).

Ehhh, I tend to like Jane M's Orlando comparison more.

I can imagine the post you made in this thread.... did not read through it yet.

You might get a piece of what you dish out in threads on Chicago demeaning you do.... enough said. I have nothing to knock San José on..... never been to. Just SF.

As someone who lives in NC and visited San Jose in August, I honestly find Charlotte to be more interesting (especially in the center city area). Of course Charlotte is not close to the gold standard for unique or exciting cities, but it's a notch above SJ. If you factor in SJ's proximity to other interesting communities and nature then living in SJ could overall be more exciting but CLT is also a lot cheaper.

Uptown Charlotte is definitely more vibrant/interesting than DT San Jose.
