This is an ATP 500 hard court event, the others will start competing next month in 2 ATP 1000 events.
Del Potro should be the hot favourite for Washington, and no doubt his competitiors will be watching the 2009 US Open champion, and winner of this tournament in 2008-9, very closely.
Djokovic and Murray will also both be hoping he is not on their side of the Draw for the US Open.
On a side note, nice to see the ATP Heritage paying tribute to former greats, with Jimmy Connors an interesting article and video, to one of the fiercest competitors of all time:

Good match, Semi final just watched between Ryan Harrison (USA) and Kevin Anderson (RSA) - Atlanta Open (ATP 250 tournament on hard court). Anderson, as a seasoned campaigner, managed to hold off the young charge.
Anderson is somewhat of a "'late bloomer"' and is on the rise again, setting up a final against fellow giant John Isner.
Isner also is a dark horse in the field, with a monster serve the mainstay of his game.
Both did not lose serve, all won on tie breaks, that bodes well for both of these guys forthcoming hard court matches.
The final set tiebreak at the US Open should really help Isner. Watching ATP Atlanta, I have grown to become an Isner fan.
In this match, his groundstrokes were very, very weak. He escaped with the win because of his huge serves so there were not a lot of baseline rallies. Anderson had a lot of break points, but it seemed like he got tight, and if you combine that with Isner's serve being turned up a notch, Isner was able to hold. But, there were many chances for an Isner break. Anderson seems like a good player, but I am just unsure if he can really contend at majors.
Even though he won, I am also a little worried about Isner. Top ten players will force Isner to hit a lot of baseline rallies, and his baseline game is weak. However, he is able to mask this with that serve.
I also think the Georgia crowd helped propel Isner to this win. Hopefully the US Open crowd can do the same.
Of course I am biased, but would love to see Tomic realize his potential as a child prodigy here, who was talked about in his early teens as the future of Oz tennis. He is now a big and powerful man with a solid game and serve, hopefully he can now start putting it all together-
It's also probably better that his volatile old man is banned from the ATP tour, so he can concentrate on his tennis. Unfortunately he is not the first tennis father of this mould (Mary Pierce, Jelena Dokic etc).
