You should teach exaggeration 101 class. Not to get political but one party would be good at teaching that.

Our family moved to Florida in 1996 and finally permanently left the beginning of this year. I had the same issue when I stayed in the Tampa Bay Area. Now that I live in Washington, (Seattle suburb).. I have been getting job interview after job interview. The job market up here is 10x better than it was in Florida and on top of that, the pay is higher. (The cost of living is a bit higher too of course) but it's better than being on an endless search for work.

Edit: Anyways, I just read through the thread and saw that your daughter has found a job. Good for her.

She got a job as someone doing the to go orders at a restaurant , she’s only on for 3 nights a week. In training. She worked 3 hours yesterday watching video’s and tablet tests. They won’t let her work the weekend as they can’t spend time training her as it’s too busy. At $10hr. She’s going back to Publix and Target today as she went through phone personality tests with them. She needs to work more than 15hours a week. This is beyond stupid. No wonder places can’t keep people.

Fingers crossed she can come up with another job soon to work more hours. She’s an adult, not a high school kid. It’s beyond me why people can’t even make $400 a week.
Did your daughter find a second or third job? I hope so!

Florida has always had the rep of having a terrible job market and terrible wages; seems like that's still the case.

Sad!

Question: Do you find that grocery prices are cheaper there than in Fla?

A lot of jobs down here are filled by new residents that have moved from high cost states. I mean are they taking pay cuts to just to avoid the cold and high taxes? The traffic is insane between Orlando and tampa any day of the week or weekend. I doubt these are tourist stuck in bumper to bumper traffic at 6:30am. It’s insane how crowded Florida feels some times.

well, using PhxGirl5's new city as an example:

Minimum wage in Seattle: $19
Minimum wage in Tampa: $10

guess people moving here from Seattle are taking pay cuts to just to avoid the cold and high taxes

It’s technically 11 and if you see most fast food or retail they are starting at 15 in tampa.

I don’t think the people moving from Seattle to Florida are working minimum wage jobs…

if people are making 11 or, let's say 15 in Tampa, then people are making a lot more than 19 in seattle.
if 19 is the minimum then a lot of places over there are prolly starting at 25. maybe higher

hell, in and out burger in northern california is starting people at $22 an hour
