Anne Sacoolas pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving at the Central Criminal Court in London (Old Bailey), and it had nothing to do with traffic lights or other such nonsense, whilst the Dunn family were awarded an out of Court settlement in relation to their Civil Case in the US.

In terms of the legacy of the case, Sacoolas now has a UK criminal record, whilst a judicial precedent has been set by the British courts allowing British citizens to argue that they should be allowed to do the same as Socoolas in terms of US extradition. This is also on top of the new precedents in relation to no longer extraditing to the US in certain cases due to human rights issued in respect of the US Judicial System and Courts.

A further Judicial Precedent was also established in the Matthew Day case, in respect of when US Military personnel are on duty.

The other major legacy was the scrapping of the Croughton Agreement and a new agreement being put in it's place to ensure this can never happen again, in terms of immunity.

Whilst on December 2022, major changes to road safety outside US bases in the UK, were announced in a letter to them from the Transport Secretary. Mark Harper following a review of safety around both RAF Croughton and RAF Barford St John in Oxfordshire, with major recommendations to be implemented.

The Coroner is also set to make rulings on the case, as the Coroner had to wait for the Criminal and Civil cases to end, whilst there has been support on the Labour benches and some cross party support in Parliament in relation to Parliamentary Inquiry, as a primary role of Parliament is to protect the citizens of the UK, which it serves.

This case has strained relations between the UK and US, and I think the UK will be very wary in terms of any future such requests from the US, as the UK was reluctant to allow any immunity at Croughton in the first place, despite US reassurances that any immunity would be waived in terms of a serious incident off base.

Ah, yes. To be clearer, in the UK a red light means stop until it is green or flashing amber (there's more detail about this but it is not necessary for this discussion). You can't turn on red at all.

Please go back on topic and stop discussing US road rules and laws.

Yes but the lights reflect this, there will be a green left turn arrow on the light next to the red light, see attached under green filter arrows:-

Sure, but people from other countries need to learn and obey local ways and laws how to drive. Or take public transportation.

Has an inquest been held into the death of Harry Dunn? Will an inquest ever be held?

Does anybody know? It's been four months now since the trial ended.

The family had asked that the Coroner carry out a full inquest, which they wanted to include road safety training for all US personnel based in Britain.

The legal process can take a while, and I don't think the Coroner has of yet released his findings.

My brother-in-law who worked for an airline based at Gatwick told me the story of two American women who after landing picked up a rental car and then obviously confused got on to the motorway on the exit ramp and were killed soon after in a head on collision

it happens, obviously ignored or didnt know the road signs, sometimes people are lucky and get stopped after a few miles or when traffic is light, but on a 70mph+ motorway in heavy traffic they have no chance.
