Apartments both affordable and market rate, 4 story senior housing, and town homes.

Thanks. So it's almost like a teardown-facelift of the original community, while adding townhomes and designating buildings for seniors. Can't wait to see it.

Correct, that's what it seems like. Which honestly is an upgrade, so I'll take it.

Now if we could just do something about that Landover Mall...

Not sure what's up with the Lerner's but that mall site should have been redeveloped years ago. Well before Woodmore, Westphalia, and Konterra. Currently, they are probably holding out for the FBI. Not sure what their fall-back plan is. But by then, a new football stadium may be in the works elsewhere.

A long time ago there were plans to make it sort of a pre/post game hangout with bars and restaurants with residential. But that fell through.

I’ve read ideas about having a purple line stop and the Landover Mall site which would be the connection between New Carrollton and Largo. Probably won’t even go on the table.

Those look quite nice. Glad they're finally doing something with that area.

Landover Mall site is valuable.... almost too valuable to 'go to waste'. Which is why it sits empty. There are too many good things that may and at this point are likely to happen: FBI (or honestly any gov't relocation), purple line, blue line...

Ultimately I think it will just be medium - high density mixed use with emphasis on housing. Once the hospital(s) and purple line is finished, its only a matter of time.

If Lerner continues to wait, they risk the chance that the economy will go into a recession, which some say will happen again around 2020. Financing will dry up and it will be another 10 years. And by then, FedEx will be empty leaving another big empty piece of land in the same town.

Meanwhile, other developments continue their forward progress like Ritchie Station, Woodmore, Westphalia, etc. What happens if the FBI goes to Greenbelt, Fairfax, or stays in DC? That would signal that the land really isn't as valuable as it seems if developers keep skipping over it.
