Spring is in full swing here in Miami it's a Pleasant 85F with mostly cloudy skies
Sounds like a nice beach day in Miami
I'm not nearly as warm, but it's still a really nice day here near New Haven, CT (60 miles east of NYC). I'm at 71 F and there is not a cloud in the sky
Been very windy this week which has had the effect of making the much milder temperatures feel considerably colder. 40mph the peak here but other more exposed areas had up to 70mph.
Sandstorms hit the Moray Firth area of NE Scotland and they had to use snowploughs to clear the sand off the roads
Currently, the total snowfall for the month of April stands at 24.0 inches (61.0 cm), which just puts behind April 1961 (24.4") for third place. With the snowfall in the upcoming storm the chance is virtually 100% that that record will be broken. Even the all-time April record of 31.6" is not safe with the upcoming storm. 15" of snow on the ground at the local airport as of 7:00 AM this morning; the latest day for 12" of snow depth was April 18th, and currently the temperature is 33F (1C) and not very sunny, and combined with the probability of a snowstorm, I bet that's going to be broken too.
Also of note was a record low being set on April 14th with 8F (-13C) at the airport. Definitely not "spring-like" at all, and it certainly did not feel that way in the morning! Interestingly, the sunrise was almost blinding that morning as I headed eastward down I-35 into Duluth. The sun angle has been very high lately for so much snow.
Very interesting. Keep us posted. That last picture is beautiful
Spring is in full swing here. Trees starting to bud and the grass it getting green. 69 F/21 C with clear skies now. Forecast calls for heavy rain and possibly some thunderstorms at the end of the week. A freeze is possible too.
You know it's Spring in America when the East and Southeast are experiencing 80's and regions further west are watching snow plaster their patios . You can guess which region I'd rather be in (hint: it's the colder one).

Well Euro also showing another snowstorm for same areas next week. Amazing! Also shows a coastal storm coming up the coast.
And then shows the trough goes negative and cold snowshowers into the Northeast around April 27th.

A nor'easter and a Great Lakes system occurring simultaneously ? That's certainly unusual. Also, the 540 line is approaching Chicago, so perhaps it's indicating snowfall .
Meanwhile, everyone might be interested to see the departures from normal over the past month or so. Obviously the main story is the cold that encompassed most of the country. Also of note is the extreme cold seen over the Upper Midwest and far northern High Plains, and the sole significant area of warmth centered in the Desert Southwest.
Strangely enough this map bears quite a resemblance to some of the CFS winter forecasts issued last summer that didn't verify for the winter .
