It's certainly a bit cold, but I think it's kind of nice.

Default Historic Snowstorm since 1875!

Records go back to Since 1875 in Bismarck..

Broke for the day of April 14th. Broke for a single April snowstorm amount. Broke for highest snow total for(and still not done). And Broke for any day of the entire year back to 1875. Unbelievable.

A storm that closed Interstate I-94 is closed from the Montana state line to Fargo. Also I-29 closed from Fargo to Grand Forks. US 83 is closed from Bismarck to Underwood.

I'm not brave enough to step out the door until I have a few more cups of coffee. Still snowing I can see I wont be moving the truck unitl the road is plowed. Too deep even for the 4WD.

Just about every road in ND is impassable. Both interstate highways are closed.

Between I-94 and I-29, I think all freeways in North Dakota are currently closed. I imagine that's somewhat rare .

Here's an Accuweather article on the new snowstorm coming into the Plains region, laying snow down in a swath from Colorado to southern Minnesota to western Ontario. The previous winter storm has buffed up the snowpack in the Upper Midwest - most of the remaining snowpack now has a snow depth of 2 feet or more according to the maps. This coming storm will buff it up further. I say keep the snows coming . Accumulations greater than 18 inches are predicted by The Weather Channel in Wyoming and northern Colorado. Blizzard conditions are possible in some areas. There have been some huge and sometimes record-smashing snows lately, and it looks like this storm will continue the trend.

TWC has christened this one "Winter Storm Yogi", but I think it's an awful moniker. The next name in the list is "Zeus" - with a name like that it will have to be a whopper . If this pattern continues there may be more winter storms that meet TWC's criteria, so I wonder what they will name storms after the list is exhausted . My guess is that they will adopt the hurricane list protocol of using the Greek alphabet.
