Hmmm Oct 10, 11, 12 is Columbus Day weekend. Still 7-10 days away Im sure might change.. And that's a great point.. we should keep an eye on rain and wind coming up so we can maybe catch the peak before too many leaves drop.

On the temp note...

Euro12z ..3 images... 850mb temps.. Oct 11, 12, 13 Note how Chicago and Mid West are escaping it. Polar Air dives down to New England. Freezing line to MA/CT border. Freeze Warnings that weekend in New England if this verifys.

Most likely average for me (as the past two months have been) I don't really understand why Noaa is calling for much above average temps AGAIN. I haven't seen long range forecast from them calling for average or below average temps over these past two months but the anomaly over that period has been exactly 0.0F

LMFAO!! Sorry. Maybe a blindfold was needed instead of sunglasses? lol! Seriously dought that will happen.

Moving on... How cold was today?

Well... Light #2 of the day. With max temp of 50° here it was needed again. Bridgeport max of 54F is the first time this early since 1974. Normal date of first 54F is October 20th. I thought it felt colder than usual this time of year. Not common. In fact only twice before October 4th is it this cold for the max

The high temperature today was 57 F / 14 C @ PHL: same as yesterday. The high on Monday was 65 F / 18 C. Heh, we've been below 20 C the whole month so far.

This is similar to the weather we had in early June, right? That was even more extreme since the averages are higher in early June. Interestingly, the record low maxes are about the same here for early October as early June. These cold, cloudy days come from a northeast airflow (particularly in the warmer part of the year). North Atlantic is still very chilly in early June, so similar cold is possible though rare.

AMHERST, MASSACHUSETTS Period of Record Daily Climate Summary

June 2 had a high of 52°F
June 3 had a high of 54°F [for Amherst]

Record for October 2/3 is 48°F. June 2/3 is 52/51°F.
