North Atlantic is still very chilly in early June, so similar cold is possible though rare.

AMHERST, MASSACHUSETTS Period of Record Daily Climate Summary

June 2 had a high of 52°F
June 3 had a high of 54°F [for Amherst]

Record for October 2/3 is 48°F. June 2/3 is 52/51°F.
June 1st and 2nd saw ridiculous highs for much of the eastern US.

High of 53F on June 2nd here was a monthly record, besting the 57F mark set the previous day, in turn besting the 58F mark set in 2009 (POR is 1984 for ISP). In fact that 53F max is even lower than the 54F record low monthly max for September, even though June is hotter and sunnier than September.

Basically, it had to be an extremely rare event.

I was also reminded of it after seeing the low/mid 50s highs on the obs for the last couple days.

dude.. you and I found the same stat, I was gonna post but got lazy.. check out the departure similarities for Bridgeport. Last time back to back 12+ negative departure was June 1 & 2.. temp was similar but like you said, departures were more negative cause the Avg Max was higher.

Another great link to save.. the format was my idea this guy made happen.

It's only 60 F here. Normal high is 78 F.

I'm sure Atlanta is close to some sort of record with 2 days below 65 F in early October.

This weather feels colder than early June did to me, because cold weather felt a bit more normal then. It's been over four, really nearly five months since we had any real cold. In early June, cold wasn't a distant memory.

First time hitting 66 or lower on avg is Oct 2nd. Last year they did it on Oct 4th. So its normal for a day max like that but back to back? Not sure. I got 66 as the max.

High of 65 F today. Only 0.3 inches of rain fell. We avoided the slaughter that SC got.

It's this time of the year again: now that we're done with the endless sun, it's time for the ridiculous rainfalls. A very strong tstorm hit the area yesterday evening. 107 mm (4"+) in Cannes in one hour and 175 mm (nearly 7") in two hours. And 83 mm (3.3") in half an hour! 13 people died from drowning.

Already 284 mm (11") since the beginning of the month in Cannes. "Only" 203 mm (8") in Nice, which wasn't hit as hard yesterday.

Lightning map from yesterday evening:

Of course today there isn't a single cloud in the sky.

Yikes. That's almost as much as South Carolina. What was the setup for that rain? Unusually warm Mediterranean must lead to more moisture. I assume it was from the south not the Atlantic.

-10C at 850mb over nei's house and freezing line goes down to Atlantic City.-8+C over here. And a 972mb blizzard for Northern Maine and Eastern Canada.
Why is my gut telling me that this will be the pattern going into winter?

Nothing like what's happening in the Carolinas but...
