Wow the exhaust from the heating systems is impressive. How come I didn't see that in Chicago photos during the -20F temps there?

Don't know. Perhaps the relative humidity was higher when that photo was taken. Or maybe it's just because Edmonton is so much colder than Chicago.

Fortunately all the snow is gone here and temperatures are in the 40s (which is still below average). Normal high is 50F.

You should think yourself lucky for getting snow. Barely any so far this winter here and none forecast all the way up to May.
