The difference of January means between Almeria and Kiruna is 26.4C (47.5F) so it's still a bit smaller than 50F. However the difference of their annual means is 20.4C (36.7F), that's much bigger than the 7.9C (14.2F) difference between Raleigh and Minneapolis. Winter in Almeria is warmer than summer in Kiruna.
The distance between Turin and Genoa is only 125 km as the crow flies with 240 m difference in elevation and the January mean is 6C warmer in Genoa, the annual mean 4C warmer. They have also very different precipitation patterns.
Almeria and Genoa have pleasant Mediterranean climates, but in no way can they be considered subtropical (and Genoa at 44° 15' is at the extreme northern lilmit for the Phoenix palm tree cultivar).

I suggest you check your math again. The Jan. high of Kiruna is 12F, low is −7.4, which yields a mean of 2.3. Almeria has a mean of 54.6. The difference between the two means is 52.3, which is still bigger than the mean difference between Miami and Minneapolis.

Phoenix palms grow in southern England, between 49-52N.

Not sure about the European numbers...but I think the USA numbers might be incorrect;
Miami has a mean temp of 68.3 in Jan....Minneapolis has a mean temp of 15 F in Jan...the difference between them is 53.3 F.

This has nothing to do with which place is better or any such crap, it is about climate. The distance between Kiruna and Almeria is about 2300 miles, and between Miami and Minneapolis around 1500. In winter, the temp differences in N. America are really dramatic, in summer, not so much.
Everything on this forum is a competition. There are a few members who consistently inform me about the weather in their location, for example, the other day I made a comment about the low temperatures, then an American member said that their temperatures were much colder. Funny thing is, I don't care and I did not ask them about their temperatures.
