I took me 20 months to find my temporary holiday job. Looking for work IS a full-time job.

The problem is that older people, don't get it, This job market is more competitive than ever.

I'd be happy for a job ANY JOB, I've also applied to seasonal work...still no job.

The point being it's that same old math issue that we run smack dab up against you know the one where the DOL states there are 5-6 people for every 1 job soooo lets see 5-1=4 so that's 4 people that don't have a job available. Those 4 people who can't get a job because THERE ISN'T A JOB ARE NOT LAZY That is the point of the title of this thread, most are trying very very hard to find a job ANY JOB but there are just not enough jobs and that doesn't make those of us who are long term unemployed lazy.

Maybe people could understand it better if they compare it to someone going on auditions for an acting role. Too much competition for one part.

Excuse me I do get it and it has nothing to do with age, I've been through down turns in the economy before. I have a wealth of UP TO DATE SKILL SETS and had gone back after doing research on what jobs were out there and took a course and still no job...Again...it's the math that some seem to have a problem with 5 people for every 1 job equals 4 people with no job, what I don't understand is why some people don't get or can't do simple math

Yeah, and little do they know that it can run into Saturday's and Sunday's on occasion. Not all are 9 to 5 either. You could be working at night from 7 to 7 in the morning or whatever.

It's more like 30 people for everyone 1 job equals 29 without a job. I understand that basic math.

It is not a depression out there yet, but I do see things getting worse in the next five or ten years. Then, we will see what happens...I think that this is just the tip of the iceberg...http://www.thecomingdepression.net/
