Yeah there are rednecks in Canada for sure.... was just wanting more info on what he meant by how 'redneck' S.F was.. Overall the U.S is more redneck than Canada though lol.. I don't know much about rednecks.. I typically stay away from them - though I must confess to having a secret intrigue in 'Swamp People' :P

I'm here to confirm that there are indeed rednecks across Canada. They drive ATVs and snowmobiles on roads and speak with double negatives.

Blacks yes, but the Latino population is actually growing in SF. As of the 2010 census it was the highest it had ever been, at 15.1% which is over 120,000 people (22,000 more than in Oakland for example, though Oakland does have a higher percentage). The Latino population in the Mission, SF's main Latino neighborhood, is shrinking due to gentrification (as we all know), but the Latino population of SF as a whole is actually rising, and has been since the 1950s at least. It's something that I've definitely noticed over the past 20 years, with some neighborhoods becoming noticeably more Latino in that time, such as Oceanview/Ingleside/Lakeview, the Tenderloin, Excelsior, Bayview/hunters point, Visitacion Valley, etc...and yes, even the Fillmore has seen some Latinos move in, along with some Asians and a ton of white people. I also feel like there are more Latinos in my neighborhood, the Sunset district, than there were a decade ago. So statistics and anecdotal evidence go contrary to what you're claiming.

In fact, along with the black population, it's the white population that's been dropping in SF, with basically non-stop decline since the 1950s. SF was 90% white in 1940, and is 42% white now. There was a small numerical increase (5,000+) between 2000 and 2010, but as a percentage of SF's population whites continued to drop. Immigration from Asia and Latin America basically kept SF from going through a serious population decline in the 1980s and 1990s. The city already lost 100,000 residents between 1950 and 1980 due to white people running to the suburbs (and after 1970, the black population began to shrink and contribute to that loss), and it would have lost more residents if it weren't for the growing Latino and Asian population.
Good to see you back on the forums rah
