Da Capital, right?
I died laughing when I read that. Repped her too!

Washington Da Capital just has a really nice ring to it.

Vectoris, I've always loved "it's a doggy dog world". Nothing gets me smiling like that one.

When I mute my kitchen TV, it automatically displays closed captions.
As I glanced at it a few minutes ago, it was displaying text that said, "...woman was scene stealing wallets in several stores".

Unless this was a theatrical story, I believe that the word, "scene", should instead have been typed as, "seen".

Apparently, full literacy is not a job requirement for those who type the text for these closed captions.

The issue is that it is not a job requirement in way too many jobs these days.

My fifth or sixth grade teacher showed a film strip about common spelling errors; to remember cemetery, we were to picture a graveyard with tombstones each carved with one E.

Isn't closed captioning done by voice recognition software? That could explain quite a few errors.

I still remember the lab reports we hand wrote out in a junior high science class -- the teacher went ballistic, since the majority of us has misspelled "separate" as "seperate" (used many times in the report). Never forgot it - I call it a "sandwich" word -- 2 vowels sandwiching 2 matching vowels: e-a-a-e. Like Delaware.

Maybe that is outsourced, and they are typed by people in Asia who do not understand English. I've heard that the Korean guy who always wins the world Scrabble© championship cannot speak English at all, and has simply memorized all Scrabble©-legal spellings. (I can't take it anymore, all the people who incorrectly write Scrabble© without the copyright symbol.)

I learned to spell "separate" like this: "There is A RAT in separate."
