Description: The World War II submarine Clamagore (SS-43) was commissioned on June 28, 1945, and operated in the Atlantic and Mediterranean throughout its entire career, patrolling tense Cuban waters during 1962. Twice modified, the Clamagore survived as one of the US Navy’s last diesel-powered subs until it was decommissioned in 1975. The Clamagore tour route covers the control room, berth and mess areas, engine rooms, maneuvering room, and displays of submarine warfare. Note: Spaces are very cramped onboard. Visitors with health problems or claustrophobia are strongly cautioned.
