Description: The city’s Junior Tennis Summer Camp has an excellent program for your budding tennis enthusiast. The camp is for beginners to advanced intermediate students ages 4 to 18. It meets from 9 a.m. to noon (ages 4 to 12), and 3:30 to 6 p.m. (ages 10 to 18) Mon through Fri. Daily instruction includes working on fundamental strokes, video analysis, and personal attention. Description: Learn about the splendor of the horse! Stono River Riding Academy is the new equestrian facility at the former Stono River Stable. It provides professional instruction under the direction of Michelle Folden who has an extensive background in training and competing on the national level. The emphasis here is on safety and fun. One-week sessions are offered throughout the summer months for ages 6 to 16. The classes last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily and cover grooming and tacking up, riding lessons, and horse care. The last hour changes each day from bareback riding to games on horseback to trail rides and more. Classes are limited to 12 students per day and the 1-week fee is $295.

Description: Sponsored by the City of Charleston Department of Recreation, Summer Fun on the Island is a camp for youths between the ages of 6 and 12 years old. Mon through Fri from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., campers are engaged in arts and crafts, swimming, storytelling, movies, music, aerobics, and sports divided by age groups. Once a week, campers venture out on field trips to great spots such as James Island and Folly Beach County Parks, Middleton Place, Riverbanks Zoo, and Splash Zone. Four sessions are offered from June to July, with fees for city residents set at $150 per 2-week session. Nonresidents of the city pay $175 per 2-week session.
