Wow, nice shots, Twinkle!

A couple from yesterday:

My neighbor's garage from my yard. Got a little wind that gave the snow a nice texture.

Another neighbor finally drug out a truck that's been buried for awhile.

Took some pics down at the harbor, since that's the part of town most summer visitors are most familiar with. This was about three feet of snow ago.

Inside one of the fish cleaning stations.

The boardwalk.

A little picnic area, completely filled with snow.

Someone needs to shovel their boat.

Some people build roofs over their boats to keep the snow off.

Meanwhile, over in dry dock.

That is Juneau.

Tigre- did you guys get disaster relief funds like Cordova? I saw in the paper that Cordova's getting money from the state to help keep the roads plowed and run shelters for people whose roofs were going to collapse.
When we had an avalanche in Juneau a few years ago the government didn't do a darn thing to help us out. The churches ended up helping people pay their electric bills so they could heat their homes. I hope you have better luck!

At this point I don't think the situation is near as bad as in Cordova. They're in a really bad way right now. Were getting a lot of snow, but this town is used to a lot more snow than they are and has better means to deal with it. Plus it hasn't been as heavy as what they've gotten down there. I personally don't advocate asking for outside help until all internal efforts have been exhausted, and we're not at that point yet.

Thought I'd throw in a few more snow shots of Valdez, AK! We received another foot or so last night and have two more in the forecast over the next 24 hours.

This was taken Monday, January 9th (the first beautiful day in a long time!)

For comparison, this was taken about two months earlier (on Nov. 3rd)

Ventured over to Mat River Park in Palmer on Monday for a spot of X country practice again. Trail wasn't groomed so we swooshed through the new snow. Chilly but fun
