When I was a kid we had lots of swallows in Eagle River, oddly, I never see them anymore. I can't recall the last time I did see one. They would build those mud nests on the eaves of the apartment building we lived in.

Default Ship Creek Area

Stumbled around ship creek earlier today. Flat light sucked but thats the way it goes sometimes.

There is a handful of interesting historical info signage around ship creek. Seems the railroad played into Anchorage's very exsistance, and at one point held a monopoly so to speak, by blocking any effort to build a boat harbor or shipping dock to support the cty






I had no idea Ship Creek used to be Stickleback Creek. Or that those little fish ran into the creek. I always thought the were a fresh water fish. Back in the day the local Indians fished them as they ran into the river.
