All of these AK pictures are just absolutely beautiful. They take my breath away. Literally. :-)

It looks really pretty. I just cannot comprehend, in all honesty, how anybody's body can endure this cold and ice for so long. How do people get used to functioning in all this gear they wear? How do you move, sit, turn? I can't even stand a turtleneck or a light sweater almost.

I was raised in New York but have been in Florida too long already I guess that I can't fathom actually living in AK, except maybe in the summertime.

One day I will visit (I keep checking the AK pictures thread) but it won't be in winter! :-)))

Wow, AS, Haines' got quite a bit more snow than we do.
Cobolt- I just drove out North Douglas to Outer Point and the falls.
Today I went to the glacier and hiked to the face. Lots of photographers out there- it was a beautiful day. I am uploading pics as we speak.
[EDIT: Got it!]

I have TONS more, but these were my favorites. Check my flickr account (Flickr: Photos from L'Aquatique (http://www.flickr.com/photos/8220587@N08/ - broken link)) for the rest. By the way, I take all my pics in very high resolution then scale them down for uploading, so if anyone wants to use my pics as backgrounds/what have you, send me a pm.

Nice. I'll bet there were lots of photographers. Have you done any cross country skiing around Montana Creek yet?

I used to stay out there at the end of Fritz Cove Rd, and in the winter, a thin layer of ice coats the water, and I'd watch the ducks dive into it and then pop up somewhere else. I could do that forever. I like walking that area when the tide is out.

Yes, torture me with pics!

We certainly did

I think it all blew right by Juneau, and ended up in Haines. You could see it coming down the canal. During one of the good days we ended up with nearly three feet at our house

Nah, I prefer to snowshoe. However, there were some cross country skiers out on the lake and it looked very fun! I can rent equipment like that for very cheap through the university, so I'll have to give it a try.
