I've gotten stuck a few times, it's not hard to do. You get cocky after a while and you push too much and in you go.

Michael...Absolutely gorgeous, and love those mine buildings, I think Cori put up some of those also a while back...

shortly after those pictures of the mines were taken i fell on a glacier and broke my leg, trying to get a pic. did not get the pic, almost lost my camera, and had to crawl a few miles out... then had to pay 7,000 for a doctor to fix me up. good times. that is my one alaskan survival story

No the dogs are not cold, or even close! :-)

They overheat at any temperature above about 15-20 degrees. They much prefer something down about -15, and don't at all mind temps down to -30. Colder than that and it is possible (not likely though) to have a dog injure its lungs from breathing powered snow if it is breaking trail. Generally, -30F is just too danged cold for humans, so that's about where most mushers decided to stay home. It is entirely possible to use a dog team at -40 and even colder without any danger to the dogs at all, but it takes a lot of effort to keep yourself warm.
