And all the countries you just mentioned don't have large and growing unproductive minority populations. So the nation (not totally the same case in Canada mind you) is much more socially and ethnically coheasive. They don't have a huge growing underclass who wants the A list lifestyle with out earning the education and work chops to achieve it.

We have subsizded too many things....look at farming as a prime example...oil companies get to drill on federal land and don't have to pay for the privilage. But that does help the economy but at a cost. Special interests suck. Both sides of the isle Bright Eyes.

When you subsidize the poor...it only makes it worse in the LONG TERM. It never improves. Does it? We have the fifth generation of welfare families accepting the public dole that began with Johnson's great society. Clearly, it has not fixed the problem--it has only made it worse, larger and more dangerous because America now has a HUGH deficit---thanks to the President. We are screwing the next generation.

I loved Margaret Thatcher, but if you think that somehow she singlehandedly saved the UK from socialism, you're mistaken. Britain's parliamentary system doesn't work that way. And they might wind up looking like Cuba anyway, if they don't take a peek at their entitlements liabilities like the Netherlands is doing.

Britain will sooner become an Islamic caliphate than a socialist utopia. There was never any danger of it. What you're confusing with socialist was out of control vote buying with entitlements spending.

Would you read the thread completely please? If it's not too much trouble? Otherwise, don't waste my time with white noise from the bleachers.

Seriously though, it's because of completely untrue blather like yours that the republican party and libertarianism are losing traction in American politics, thank god. Although I'd much rather people start thinking for themselves and realize how wrong they are, I know that's near impossible thanks to the celebration of idiocy on the right wing and the demonization of free, rational thought... so, keep on going! It only serves to marginalize conservatism more and more.

Thanks for the talking points, Ed Schultz. If you don't mind, I'd rather stay out of your mindless partisan US vs. THEM rhetoric orgy. I hate both parties. I'd had enough of it by 1976.

Oh, you think I'm a democrat? No. They're far too conservative for me and still far too heavily influenced by lobbyists and corporations for my taste, though I certainly find them to be the lesser of evils in practice...

"Wake Up Everybody"

Wake up everybody, no more sleepin' in bed
No more backward thinkin' time for thinkin' ahead
The world has changed so very much from what it used to be
So there is so much hatred war an' poverty

Wake up all the teachers, time to teach a new way
Maybe then they'll listen to whatcha have to say
'Cause they're the ones who's coming up and the world is in their hands
When you teach the children, teach 'em the very best you can

The world won't get no better
If we just let it be
The world won't get no better
We gotta change it, yeah, just you and me

Wake up all the doctors, make the ol' people well
They're the ones who suffer an' who catch all the hell
But they don't have so very long before the judgment day
So won'tcha make them happy before they pass away?

Wake up all the builders, time to build a new land
I know we can do it if we all lend a hand
The only thing we have to do is put it in our mind
Surely things will work out, they do it every time

The world won't get no better
If we just let it be
The world won't get no better
We gotta change it, yeah, just you and me
...

...

... yeah, thanks for that, guy I'm not that big on soul. I find this much more stirring:

I have a couple hours before I leave for the party, but have already downed a few stouts. So...

This just in, Russia's birth decline contines it's downward trend...there is more vodka than milk in Russia's foodmarkets....the mortality rate continues to drop.....freedom of the press is going away and the Putin Puppets are setting the stage for the...wait for it....a return to the happy days of the USSR!!! Yeah!!! Stalin will once again be a role model!!! Oh the joys and full shelves of goods in stores, personal freedoms, gulags will be coming back in Vogue!
Putin re-creating the USSR? Please. Russia's current oligarchic state is of his own making. Considering how simple your interpretation and knowledge of Russian society and politics seem to be, I'm not surprised that you draw a correlation between stifling the free press under the Soviets versus an oligarchic autocrat, but I digress. Do you have any credible information whatsoever that he is planning to create a new Soviet? Because all the billionaires and wealthy "New Russians" who live in Moscow would seem to disagree.

Again, post-communism. The fruits of free enterprise don't seem to have trickled down after 20+ years, do they? Much as they haven't trickled down to the African-American community, which you blame "the liberals" for screwing over... but then, they also haven't trickled down to most white, Asian, or Hispanic people either, now have they?

And jus think today, you can oppose the goverment of China and get to stay in jail forever...not charge! They will even incarcerate your family too!! And let's not forget our good buddies in North Korea! They are the TRUE Model of a Socialist Republic!
It's the damndest thing; whenever I've pointed out that kids in commie China score better than kids in the US on mathematics or something of that sort, I'm quickly told by conservatives that they AREN'T A COMMUNIST COUNTRY, THEY'RE CAPITALIST DAMN IT @#!Q@#$%. And yet, when we are on the topic of incarceration, THEY'RE COMMIES. Nevermind that not only does our incarceration rate trumps China's (716 vs 170 by the highest estimates per 100k people), but the raw number of people incarcerated does, but there are also about 650k more prisoners here than over there despite them having over a billion more people than us.

Could this have anything to do with our free-market, for-profit prison system, which not only has a thriving lobby, but also pays off judges and state legislature and supports the Republican Party far and wide? Oh, no - I'm sorry, it's those damn liberals who want everyone to be able to smoke all their weed without any sort of retribution...

A Stockholm is a socialist paradise? If so, why this?
