It's been years since I went through the employment contract at the UofA (since I worked there, anyway), but I find it hard to believe that she's not in the wrong somewhere too. Her breach isn't anywhere near as severe as Petrino's, but it's certainly bad judgement and involves an inappropriate workplace relationship. Even if she didn't break the rules somewhere and isn't up for firing, I bet she'll resign- can you imagine working there after all this? It'd be hell.
Well she will have it rough, but the boss has all of the power that is why she would have a lawsuit if she were to be fired. Sexual harassment. Sounds like she could make a good case. That is why you don't have a relationship with subordinates. I am interested to know where that 20K came from. Did it come from him or some general fund?

You could be right, but how is she going to explain $20,000? Add to it, her reputation is probably ruined thus I would guess if they don't let her go, she will leave on her own. Heck I have had the whole thing wrong since the beginning why would I get it right now?

The affair alone was unfortunate, but as Long said, a personal matter if that was all there was to it. Hiring your girlfriend (and, it appears, acting inappropriately through the hiring process to ensure she gets the job over 159 other applicants) for a job that reports directly to you and giving her $20,000 in cash while doing so? That's good cause to be fired. Lying to your boss, team, and staff about it and abusing their trust the whole time? That too.

Dorrell can't realistically stay with the athletic program at Arkansas and she knows that. I think there is probably sufficient cause/violation of employee code of conduct to fire her as well, but she really should resign and move on. I just hope Petrino can repair his relationship with his family. Losing $3.6-$4 million a year hurts, but losing a wife and four kids is a lot worse.
I know this sounds cold, but I really don't care if he repairs his relationship with his family. He is a sleezebag, apparently has done something like this before and if I were his wife I would tell him to go scr@@ himself. But we don't know anything about her either. If I would have been Hillary I would have done the same, but I guess we never know what we will do until it happens to us. I feel sorry for his family, what he has put them through probably can not be mended.

She can't claim harassment because she was involved with Petrino before he hired her, and she asserted to Long that it was consensual. Since she got the job under questionable circumstances, it's doubtful they will let her keep the job. But she was employed by the University in another capacity prior to this one, and since she only recently took on the job Petrino offered her, there would be a question of whether her old job was still available. If it is, she may want that job back, and challenge the school that it doesn't have grounds to fire her per her previous contract. However, the scandal that's associated with her now may make it impossible to be effective in her previous job, which I understand involved fundraising. It's a quagmire to be sure.

The 20K was evidently Petrino's personal funds. Which I'm sure interests his wife. I'm curious as to what the money was for, and exactly when the money exchanged hands.

What goes around, comes around. This guy has been a bottom feeder from the word go. He may be a good football coach, but he's also a selfish, conceited ingrate, and I hope he never gets another high profile job as long as he lives. Kudos to Arkansas for doing the right thing here. They won't have any trouble remaining competitive, trust me.

I got a text from my son, who's a student at UofA, last night right after the press conference. He was pretty bummed out. I, on the other hand was glad that the university stood up and took what I'm sure was a difficult stand. Doing the right thing isn't always easy, and I applaud the university and Long for having the integrity to do it.

Talked to my daughter last night, she was sad, said the mood around campus was down, but she knew it was the right thing to do. It's a grief process for them in a way, will experience different emotions as the days go on, sadness, then anger, then blame... all those things. She knew the long term implications for her school and its reputation if they glossed over it and he stayed, so it would be painful whichever decision was made.

I was at the Citadel game that Jack Crow lost. This doesn't hurt nearly as bad.

I'm surprised that Arkansas made the move to dump him but I really give the school credit for doing what had to be a very tough course action knowing what it would likely cost them results in the short run.

There are some reports on the internet that Josh Morgan, Dorrell's fiancee, has left his position as Director of Swimming and Diving.
