3. Twiggs Circle
Housing Authority drops Immaculate Conception plan, adopts another | The Augusta Chronicle
To develop a nearby area bounded by Twiggs Street, Picquet Avenue and Wrightsboro Road into 93 units of duplexes, single-family homes and townhomes.

According to a site plan, Phase 1 of Twiggs Circle includes 16 duplexes and eight single-family homes, all new construction reserved for senior citizens, along sections of Wrightsboro Road, South Boundary and James Brown Boulevard.

Phase 2 includes 24 new single-family homes and four restorations along Twiggs Street between Wrightsboro and Picquet, with plans for a possible park or senior citizen center at the intersection of Nicholas Street and Twiggs.

Phase 3 according to the site plan is “more of a long-term vision,” as much of the property is privately owned. Phase 3 calls for construction of 22 single-family homes and 23 townhouses along Picquet Street.

The new website for the Laney Walker and Bethlehem redevelopment is available to the public.. The website discusses several things including the overall description of each targeted area(six total)..

Heritage Pine and Holley Street Commons.. Underway
Foundry Place and Twiggs Circle.. Breaking ground 2012
East Mill Village and The Boulevard... Future developments

Foundry Place is the most exicting of the six, and presents the best overall opportunity imo... The development calls for a mixed-use type of neighborhood.. Residential above retail within walking distance of the Medical District..

The Laney Walker-Bethlehem project continues to be much bigger than an Augusta initiative..

The national and statewide recognition can't be ignored.. William Sankey of Harvard used the quote ''game-changing national model for public-private redevelopment and the project on the 2011 Georgia Planning Association Outstanding Implementation Award..

Then you have this article..
Augusta, Georgia: A Green Masters Jacket for the City?

Then finally being one of seven cities in the US chosen the American Institute of Architect to receive design and implementation assistance..

The mayor believes the GGHOF property can support both the multi-use facility and research park..
