From what they said in the article it should be enough room for both so the merger going to help the stadium get built. Now you don't have three different businesses flighting for land. I guess Cal Ripkin and University of Augusta will meet up in the near future about the golf and garden land. YOU WILL SEE A STADIUM GET BUILT DOWNTOWN ON THE GOLF AND GARDEN land.

The Watermark is only 7 acres and a thin 7 acres at that. From foul pole to foul pole there just isn't any one way to position a baseball field on the Watermark property to make it fit... unless you tore down the depot, which isn't going to happen. If you even just look at it on mapquest/google from an overhead view, you'll see it won't fit.

Be interesting to see how they'd fit in a research park for University of (insert name here) and a baseball stadium with it's associated structures onto 17 acres as well... Would the condos then be out of the question now in place of the school buildings? They'd definitely be building up and not out to fit in any medical research buildings...

I would imagine that any interest from the newly merged school on acquiring the GHOF property would speed up the process of actually getting the property up for auction/sale and not on the back page of the states to-do list.

IF...

If, those buildings ever are built alongside a multi-use baseball complex on 17 acres in a confined urban area... they'd have to have some height to them as space would be limited.

Yes, but probably nothing any taller than any of the other buildings at MCG.

Due to the limited amount of space on the GGHF property.. I'm sure a few mid-rise buildings will be located on the site. High Rise???

The condo portion of the multi-use facility is a mid rise building..

Bryan Haltermann, a real estate developer and historic preservation consultant, bought the building in the fall and is renovating it as a mixed-use facility. Part of the space was formerly a car dealership and is equipped with several garage doors. DDA Treasurer Cameron Nixon said Haltermann will be converting that into small rental storage spaces.

The front of the building is leased to Cafe 209, currently at 4 8th St. The restaurant is expected to open in the new location in the next week.

Downtown stadium plan gains new life | The Augusta Chronicle

Eventually it will happen and then downtown will see another set of construction projects after the area is more appealing... this would be the first domino to fall into transforming downtown Augusta IMO.

The crosswalk between the Whites building and Whites warehouse is coming back to life...
Item Attachments

The owner of the Whites building recently finished the remaining 34 condos in the building(51 total).. The building has residential, office, and restaurant space.. The owner purchased both the Whites warehouse and the nearby parking lot behind the Whites building.. The warehouse will become lobby/parking space, and the parking lot will have new landscaping and gated access..

The picture(rear of Whites Building facing Ellis street) was taken around 2010 when the windows in the Whites building were being replaced.. The Whites warehouse building is the one connected via skywalk...
