As I was saying.....if the Lakers manage to play .500 ball during this end of the month stretch I'd be impressed. Up next, the Grizzlies, Thunder on Sunday.

I agree with you, I was just commenting that Houston gave them a huge gift and the Lakers were unable to capitalize. It's just so rare to see a team at .500 in the west being an 8th seed this far into the season.

Bulls up 2pts with just 6minutes left in the 4th quarter last night and won by 12.

Kobe is 700+ pts behind Wilt now and 1600+ behind Jordan.

So, Kobe should catch Wilt sometime in March and Jordan before Christmas next year barring some major injuring.

He's still 7700pts behind Kareem but Kobe has taken great care of himself over the years so we shall see. That's like 4 more years if nothing major happens and he keeps dropping in points....I suspect he will fade a lot more in the next 2 years and it takes him about 5-6 to catch kareem, again that's if he doesn't suffer a major injury then all bets are off.

That's a tough one to call. They have 3 tough games but then they hit a bunch of soft teams....however those are mostly road games. Call that one a coin-flip.

As per NBA stats, the Lakers have their best winning percentage when Kobe takes under 20 shots.

Kobe isn't going to give up his pursuit of the all-time scoring mark. That much is perfectly clear....

With regards to the thread title, do you see Dwight hanging around for this and then a complete rebuild after next year?

If Dwight were rational then I'd say no but I've long admitted I don't understand how he thinks.

actually i think the lakers history, and the smooth talkers they have in the office MIGHT be able to talk him into it. i mean they talked kobe into resigning in the middle of their last retool a few years ago.

i think howard is 50-50 staying. if he doesnt i have NO IDEA where he would go.

and cant rep you anymore but the "which half" comment was AWESOME!

Depends on how the year ends. If the Lakers somehow manage to make a strong playoff push and make some noise, Dwight may see the silver lining and decide to give it another shot. The problem is that he's the only Laker star under 30, for the rest of them father time isn't really on their side. There may be better options for him to pursue a championship and take a role beyond rebounding the missed shots from an aging star SG. I don't really see where he and Kobe, personality-wise, are a good match.
