And Math, to respond to your point about rebuilding, they certainly are. In the past two years they've had 3 (counting Bernie) coaches, and of course added Nash and Dwight. But they also (starting last year) gutted their bench. They got rid of Fisher, Goudelock, then Sessions, added Hill, got rid of Barnes, Eyenga, McRoberts, Murphy, Kapono, Walton (again for Sessions). Now they released DJO and are starting Sacre who was brought up from the D-League!

Then starting 3rd and 4th string PGs Morris and Duhon, because Nash and Blake were out (not that Blake was an all star) but the entire team is different.

So the only constants were Pau, MWP and Kobe. Morris who didn't play much last year and Blake. You add Dwight and Nash and expect to win a championship?

Look, I like Dwight and can make excuses for the team because I'm a fan. Should they have a better record, probably. Have they had a few obstacles. Yes.

I think Dwight is an asset and think Mitch knows this wholeheartedly. If that means getting rid of Pau, or whoever to gain some more speed to compete in the West then that's what's going to happen.

And like in my first post, that's what Dwight has to realize. Not only is he going to have to change, but the Lakers will have to too.
The Lakers biggest issue is they either have to commit to Kobe or to Dwight and get rid of the other one. Neither is a role player, they both want to be the go to guy and that will NEVER change. Expect Dwight to have a new home next year.

Lakers are 4th in ppg and 26th in giving up ppg....their FG% allowed is 17th or so.

That pretty much sums up what needs to be fixed to improve their chances of winning....and I'm sure their coach will tighten up their defense....oh wait their coach is who? Ouch. Nevermind.

thats been the problem with kobe since his 2nd or 3rd year. maybe at one point everyone will realize its not the guys around him, its the leader that causes the problems. just like a bully and his cronies at school, the leader is the one causing the problems, most of the time the cronies are just kids being led astray.

how many other teams with more then 1 "star" have these issues, year in and year out. when they are winning it was kobe, hes the greatest, when they are losing, it cant be kobe he is the greatest.

spurs have had 3 stars for years, heat just won a ring with their 3 stars and no issues, the celtics had 3 stars who worked perfectly together..........

Last year my Warriors dumped Monta Ellis for a guy who was injured. Since the start of this year our team has a .667 winning percentage even without Bogut. It just shows that role players sometimes help alot more than having one or two stars.

Does it show that or does it show that a ball hogging wanna be game winning hero is more kryptonite to winning then his heroics? I'll have to go look but looks like the bulk of the warriors is pretty much the same as last year, so did dropping the ball hog free the rest of the team to actually play?

Lakers gotta shop either Gasol or Howard. Having two lumbering centers doesn't fit well with D'Antoni's style of play. And they lack depth on their roster (as we're seeing now obviously). They need to trade one of those guys ASAP for some versatile depth pieces. They need a PG too because Nash is 39 years old.

1. Isn't it easier to replace the coach? It's not like his style is a winning formula.
2. No one wants Gasol. They've been shopping him since last year.
3. They have no cap room.
4. Your basically suggesting you want to rebuild around Kobe at age 34?

This Lakers team reminds me of the one they had when they had Karl Malone, Gary Payton etc., where they did not live up to all the hype. The Lakers should just ride this out with this current roster. Any moves now will likely not make a difference. If they make the playoffs, its not like they will be heavy favorites to win a title. It is what it is. After this season some tough decisions will have to be made to probably rebuild this team. They had their run with several titles, it seems like the time has come to plan for the future.
