And now they are witnessing the cost for calling out their superstar: losing him

True, that only works if you have juice as a championship contender. Parker and Ginobili have been dry for a long time now...they can’t do anything for Leonard and their complaining sounds like Barkley and all those other old guys taking about “back in my day”.
I haven’t seen too many situations where a coach or player calls out another player in the press and it ends up in a good way.

Good, it was worth it.

I'm glad the veterans spoke up and didn't tolerate such behavior.

You don't abandon your teammates during playoffs by going off to do 'rehab' in some distant city.

You act as if they would've beaten GSW, hint, they wouldn't have.

Welcome to the real world. Premium NBA stars don't always do what you want.

Reports are now saying Spurs are open to trading Kawhi to the Lakers, which I imagine they'll get a kings ransom for.

Yup, breaking news now, I think in the next few days we'll hear something.

I just pray they don't already give up on some of the young new stars in the making like Ball or Ingram.

I just don't get this sentiment from LAL fans here and other boards. This is a top 5 player we're talking about. Sure BI has the potential to be an all star. But KL is a top 5 player.

To expect to get KL for nothing is ludicrous.

And any offer that doesn't include BI, Kuz, and at least one 1st IS nothing.

I would say BI, Kuz, Hart, and two 1st's is the starting point.

Superstars just don't come on the market enough to not sell out for.

Not only that, but you're basically trading Kuz, BI, Hart, and picks for KL AND Lebron since LBJ is saying he doesn't want to be the first domino and that KL has to come to LA.

One last point. Magic is the decision maker not the fans. So, you have to ask yourself this...He is staking everything on making this trade happen. If he doesn’t get the KL domino to fall, the rest of his plan can fall apart. Will HE risk that? I know most LAL fans are saying it’s too much, but will your decision maker think it's too much?

I say he will swallow hard, think about the splash this would make for him and how important separating himself from the previous regime is, and pull the trigger.

There really is no need for the Spurs to rush to a trade. There are reports out there that Kawhi has reached out to Lebron saying he would like to play alongside him, but also rumors now saying Kawhi would be open to an extension in other big markets such as Boston or Philly. That would certainly increase his value, and am sure Pop would rather move him to the East.

I was all in on KL at first, but now I have my doubts.
As a Laker fan, I think if we can get PG and LeBron, try to keep Julius Randle, and still have Kuzma, BI, Lonzo and Josh Hart, that would make us a better team than if we had a big three and no one else and loss of picks. It's not like we have an abundance of picks anyway.

I don't know, I really don't want to lose BI or Kuz, not even for KL. He's top 5 player, but he is not an all time player. I am old enough to remember the trade with the Bucks when we got Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. We gave up the farm for him and he was worth it. KL is great, but not in Kareem's class.

By the time Bell etc. develop, Lebron will be in decline.

Pick one, make a move NOW or build for the future....but straddling the middle lane is just going to end up with roadkill.

You seriously see Lebron joining a bunch of kiddo's just because you added PG?

Nope, you need KL *now* and then try to eek out a title or two before someone gets hurt or declines.

Tons of historical references for this working and\or going wrong.

If you can get Lebron/KL/PG you do it without giving a single thought to the future. Building slowly can happen but it takes A LOT of luck too. A team like the Celtics has done everything right but I won’t be too surprised if in 5 years they have 0 titles. The way the league is now, you could build slowly for 5 years and then BAM 2-3 superstars get together and instantly have a better team for 3-4 years.
