Lebron might have 3 more rings by now if they drafted him instead of Tristan Thompson (obviously hindsight is 20/20)

I am not a Spurs fan, but as an outside observer, the Spurs really are in a bind here and have a monumental decision to make on Leonard.
On one hand, he obviously is a remarkably gifted player, and one who coaches drool about playing for them. He is an unselfish player who plays great defense along with his offense....a coaches dream combination.
That being said, his disappearance this year is a nightmare to overcome. When does a player have the right to have his own group of advisors and friends dictate to him not to accept the opinions of team physicians.
A troubling scenario is this for the Spurs....say he does sign a max deal for them, and pulls the same act of his hat when he suffers his next injury.
I think when he meets with Popovich he will be asked if he can stay with team physicians and second opinions offered by the team for future injuries. If he answers positively and gives them assurance this act will not occur again, than I can see them signing him.
If he is vague and states that he reserves the right to make the same call again, than I do not know how the Spurs can take this risk....nor should they.

Not bad for a geriatric 3. Kawhi shot 61%, and Duncan 56.9%
Contrast the Heat: LBJ 28.2, Wade 15.2, Bosh 14.0, total of 43.4 points
In 2013 Finals, the Heat top 3 averaged 25.3, 19.6 and 11.9, total of 56.8 points, while Spurs top 3 only averaged 49.2 points.
Now to the 2018 NBA Finals:
GSW: Durant 28.8, Curry 27.5, Klay 16, total of 72.3 points
Cavs: Lebron 34, Love 19, JR 9.5, total of 62.5 points
It's quite clear that no one player "solely" can win a championship. It takes the top 3-4 outscoring the other team's top 3-4. Sure Kawhi helped, but LBJ still average 28.2 and shot 57% from the field in 2014, very similar to Durant's latest NBA Finals MVP stats in 2018.

Thank you TR95. I highly doubt Kawhi without the "geriatric 3" would have taken the spurs to the NBA finals in 2013. Look at the past season, the spurs went to the 1st round of the playoffs without their "Star".

Yep, just like LBJ can't win without 2 more players averaging 20 points per game or at least damn close to that. Hasn't been a Finals winner in so long without having that. Last was the 2012 and 2013 Heat. In 2012, Wade and Bosh combined to average 18.6 points and 2013 Wade and Bosh combined only average 15.8 points, but Ray Allen and Chalmers averaged 10.6 each. In 2014, no other Heat showed up except for LBJ, and they lost, not surprising.
