Did Imperial Highway really go all the way to Imperial Valley? Its eastern terminus is in a wrong location. It would have to connect to route 74 to go to IV.

I've heard about The Pacific Electric and how LA had the greatest transportation system in the world, but was put to it's demise by the automobile. I would have loved to experienced this age when LA was like this, it would have been so awesome. Still wish LA had such an extensive system, it would be deafinitly better than sitting in traffic.

While the PE was MUCH better than anything L.A. has had since I don't know how anyone could have considered it the greatest transportation system in the world. Paris Metro, anyone?

I agree but remember PE has been gone for over a half century. I don't know how good the others were at that time.

Yes PE at the time was pretty much almost the greatest system in the world.

That's just it. There wasn't an eastern terminus near where it ends now. It went all the way to Brawley.

Well....unless my old memories are foggy, and that's real possibility!

Post script: Looks like old age memory loss may be a reality. I just found a 1959 California highway map and Imperial Hwy ended then, just where it ends now.

Well, phooey.
