Interesting. Good characterizations of the whiskies, though perhaps somewhat stereotypical of the national characters.

I'm not much of a drinker, but I discovered Scotch a few years ago and have never looked back. Don't have it often, but when the time is right, I thoroughly enjoy a "wee dram" of really, really good Scotch!

Of course, every-day Canadian beer is superior to American, and so is Red Rose tea.

Oh, that is one food combination that I do miss from Canada. I work with a woman who grew up in Baltimore, and she was familiar with the practice because of some Canadian-style restaurant she used to frequent. She loves vinegar with fries as much as I do!

If we visited the sugar shack we had "tire" and "oreilles de crisse" (Christ's ears a.k.a deep fried pork rinds). My father's side of the family were more "British" - think fruit salad trapped in jello, lamb with mint sauce and Sunday roast served at lunch time in complete silence.
Um, both my parents are British, as is my extended family, and I've never experienced ANY family dinners in silence. Not. even. close.

Those nuns' farts sure do sound good, though!

One dish that I miss from living in Montreal as a teenager is Coquille St. Jacques (which I know isn't Canadian, but is commonly served in Quebec restaurants) . One of my favorite things to eat ever!
