I wonder why the Liberals have such a weakness for the Castro family regime but would be ready to nuke if one let them do it N Korea and even Russia. To this day I have no explanation for that contradictory attitude save their deep stupidity.

S'cuse me, but I think you've got the wrong thread. I think you want the P&OC forum where that infantile Liberal versus Conservative silliness thrives.
This thread is about ONE person's ill advised lauding of Fidel's life.
Heads of state are supposed to be leaders, not squishy wimps.
Haar!
Here's one ready to cast a judgement without considering his own country's history in this regard.
We as Canadians will take under advisement the origin of the bulk of criticism and attach a comparative analysis of the factual kind based upon the history of the relevant leaders; care to guess how that'll play out as regards the "squishy" factor?
you leaders mass murdered far more people can Castro can ever dream of, just so you know, just not in their own country.
So as not to derail the topic of this thread, I'll refrain from responding.
Here is the perfect response to Castro's death. Not crude, not lacking diplomacy. Just the truth.

Good statement. But, to the credit of Trudeau, he is not the only one who praised Castro. There were many world leaders from Democratic countries who did it. Even the pope. Trudeau was just more poetic...
I can imagine being inside the Trudeau mind and hear that little voice....CASTRO is a nice man...he gave me a cookie when I was a little boy...he is NICE...
I don't have the time or inclination or take issue with everything you have said here, but you seem to misunderstand that having "rights" in Canada includes the right to be wrong. There is no contradiction in stating one's position on gender equality and LBGT issues elsewhere, and respecting the right of people to their religion in Canada, even if their religion does not include gender equality - you know, like in the Catholic Church. That's what we call freedom of religion. Gender equality and LBGT issues are secular issues, which, since we have freedom of speech as well in this country, people are certainly allowed to take issue with in their religious institutions. That doesn't change the fact of the legal position of Canada on those secular matters.
If you are truly liberal, you put human rights ahead of any religion... How can you be supportive of the religion that does not respect women, claims that homosexuals should be killed (just look at most muslim countries), yet on the other hand promote such radical bills like Bill-C16?
And it sounds strange that you define gender equality and LBGT as secular issues. No, these are human issues...

Except here that lauding seems to be hereditary, and takes in 16 of the Liberals' 33 years of "service" as the governing party. I am not sure if Chretien or Martin particularly aped the Trudeau Family's admiration for the thug.

Same-sex rights in Canada have come a long way since 1965. That year, the Supreme Court of Canada upheld a ruling that labelled Everett Klippert a "dangerous sexual offender" and threw him in prison for admitting he was gay and that he had sex with other men.
***** Muslims are cultivating spaces in the city where their identities can co-exist. Most prominent is the Toronto Unity Mosque, an LGBTQ-friendly and gender-equal space for practising Muslims. Also known as the El-Tawhid Juma Circle, it has been a haven for ***** Muslims deterred by the traditional teachings of their faith and those who don’t abide by the militant atheism of other ***** communities.
