Getting to you am I?

A gentle reminder of from whence the bulk of criticism of Trudeau's comments applying to Canada and Canadians in general emanated and perhaps a less gentle, pointed suggestion to look up the definition of IRONY.

As to your last; it would be perfectly within the specifics to suggest that at least some of us up north ARE perfect. Every barrel has to have at least some....even your barrel.

Finally have you bothered to consider what elements of your own countrymen admired Fidel Castro's ability to thumb his nose at America and survive no less than hundreds of CIA authored assassination attempts?

Now let's go back to exactly how and why Castro came into being shall we, or would that open up yet another gaping sore of American duplicitous involvement in a foreign countries affairs.

Excerpt: "Batista antagonized the population by forming lucrative links to organized crime and allowing American companies to dominate the Cuban economy."

This site spells it out in a little more linear fashion:

Brother!
Instead of answering my question, you're accusing me of supporting Trump and Batista? You sound like you've learned American history from Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky.

No; I merely offered a rejoinder phrased to answer your query regarding some Canadians by using the figurative "you" to apply in the same manner SOME on here are using it to apply to Canada and Canadians.

Were the first two paras of my answer lacking in clarity as to what deduction you could draw as regards my "answer" to your question.

I can be more specific in that; some Canadians might laud Castro's ability to wave the middle finger towards latitudes more northerly but they would assume no more relevancy or import than some in every single country of the world, including your own.

Why The Left Loves Fidel Castro

So once again; why would you explicitly single out Canadians for some singular honour in this regard?

I see you ignored the point that Canada does business and has relations with all of those countries as well and sells arms to Saudi Arabia. But I guess that's ok if they do it though.

Didn't Canada have diplomatic relations with all the "fascist " nations the United States did? Examples including Pinochet's Chile, Franco's Spain, and Argentina during its "Dirty War "? If so, was this because the US forced them to do it?

I ignored it as irrelevant to the discussion regarding condolence comments by a prime minister being judged by individual Americans.

This debate didn't start with Canadians judging your president as somehow lacking because he kisses a Saudi King on the lips.

Were Canadians to have fostered a thread about that, THEN it would have relevancy.

Linear thinking.

Yet you originally brought it up with the links you showed so I merely pointed out Canada works all of the countries mentioned as well and you won't acknowledge it because it invalidates your point.

Saying that destroys the false moral superiority of some.

Yes, we may or may not have; but in this thread we're not the ones castigating someone by assuming the higher moral ground for ill-advised condolence comments for a dictator...er....are we?

Wait 'til Trump assumes his chair and I'm more than certain you will be given more than ample opportunity to fire broadsides back at us (and more particularly myself) over our assumed moral superiority.

That should be fun as I take my crow with a dash of lemon pepper.

It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of Cuba’s longest serving President.

Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.

While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for “el Comandante”.

I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba.

On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and many, many supporters of Mr. Castro. We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader.
Bet he admires Mao Tzedong also.
