Every Major city cant be on a waterfront. There are alot of Citys that have grown without one.

Of course -- and Charlotte has grown tremendously over the last 15 years - without being on the water.

I don't think anyone was saying it meant no growth. I was certainly saying it adds a lot to a city to have that waterfront. I think of San Antonio . . . that river is everything to tourism.

This may sound "hickish" of me(I am from Arkansas after all), but if your biggest complaint about Charlotte is that darn Charlotte Symphony and a freakin opera, then I am looking forward to moving there! Charlotte, here I come!!!

OP tread was nine(9) paragraphs long. Very detailed. Did all you get from that was the "freakin opera" part?

Here's my summary of those 9 paragraphs:
1. A warning that this is his/her personal preferences
2. Talks about other places he/she lived
3. Charlotte is boring because it has a lot of chain restaurants (this paragraph also mentions Charlotte having a third-rate symphony/opera)
4. Symphonies and opera
5. People in Charlotte have a faux sense of self-importance and are terrible drivers
6. People in Charlotte don't use normal speaking voices
7. Talking again about the other places they've lived
8. Different cities are different
9. OP is leaving

So of those 9 paragraphs, really only four of them had actual complaints about Charlotte. And two of them mentioned the symphonies and opera, one of which was devoted entirely to that subject. So yeah, it did seem like the symphonies and opera had a lot to do with the OP not liking Charlotte (and as mentioned in paragraph #1, that is his/her opinion, which is fine).

^^^BTW: "Mention" is to be taken as a cultural slant on life in CLT...not to be taken as an indication of musical preference. Besides, the lawyer for Assansa was not interested in the 9 paragraghs that you have so thoughtful paraphrased for him. Read his post and you might find you wasted your time.
