They think otherwise because the Bible states otherwise. Where did God declare Sunday to be the new Sabbath? He didn't. I understand the importance of His resurrection just as much as the next Christian, but the 4th Commandment is not a suggestion. It isn't God saying "hey it would be great if you all could keep this day but if you feel you might have a day that works better for you then please use that day" The Sabbath was, is, and always will be a testament to His creative power. Who are we to think we can ever change that? I wonder why it is the only commandment that starts with the word remember. It also says keep the day Holy. We can never make anything Holy. If God assigns holiness to something, than regardless of what changes we try to make, nothing will take away from the fact that the day GOD made Holy is still to this day Holy. Christians, pick up your Bible and search for the truth revealed through His word, not the traditions of man.

in Mark 2:23.....`` and it came to pass that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day and his disciples began as they went to pluck the ears of corn.... and the pharisees said unto him Behold why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?....and Jesus said unto them The sabbath was made for man and not for the sabbath.... Therfore the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath````........It does not matter was day the sabbath is on Ressurrection day on Sunday, could be Saturday like the Jewish traditions. could be Wednesday when a Christians has the day off and must work on Sunday.... It is a day of rest where a man can get a day off and make it Holy to the Lord God....... Like the busy business that must have every body working seven days a week and the people never pray and the Judgements will come..... People who work seven days a week should pray and seek help and the Judgements of the Lord God to bring relief.....

You have everything backwards.

The Sabbath was created for man, not man for the Sabbath.

Sunday is the Lord's Day only by tradition as started by the Apostles.

Our Sabbath is Christ. The "Sabbath" was a day of rest for those who kept the law because they were under law with no Grace. We, Christians, are under Grace in Christ, so Christ and His Grace/Atonement is our rest. It is because of His Grace that we rest all the time now. All our works are done out of love and obedience for Him, and have no bearing on the Law. We have no need for a day of rest.

I think it's appropriate to put aside time to worship formally and fellowship with other Christians but that's it.

All three are Abrahamic religions. The Jews came first and they picked Saturday. Christians second and they chose Sunday. Muslims came third and got stuck with Friday.

Well, it could have happened that way. LOL

For one, post Jesus resurrection Christians are not bound to Old Convenant rules. Yes, it is a commandment, but apparently the early Christians chose to honor the Sabbath, but just moved it up one day and from then on, celebrated the Sabbath every seven days just as it always was.

Two and more importantly, Jesus gave Peter the key to the Kingdom of Heaven in Matthew 16:13-19 and gave Peter the powers to bind and loose. Jesus left us a living Church, not the Bible. The Catholic Church left us the Bible. Therefore the Catholic Church was given the Authority by Jesus himself to make that call.

HalfNelson isn't the one who "has everything backwards." Any work done out of love and obedience for Him does not require payment for services rendered. Jesus didn't require payment for all He did to heal and feed others on the Sabbath.

Matthew 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

...Did Jesus mean there were some forms of employment that are acceptable on the Sabbath day?

No. Jesus did not mean that there were some forms of "employment" that are acceptable on the Sabbath day.

To be "employed" means to earn a wage for "services" rendered...Jesus' example showed us that he healed on the sabbath because he met an immediate need of someone in distress because he loved them. He certainly didn't expect nor did he ever accept anything as "payment" for his works of necessity and mercy. And his
life should be our example...our blueprint on how we should live.
What is considered lawful works on the sabbath day would be anything you would do that would glorify Christ...and it would be done in love...with humility, denying self in the spirit of Christ...helping other's...relieving the poor...attending the sick...worshipping the LORD.
Christ is the Lord of the sabbath, and all work should be dedicated to him...done of necessity and mercy...and above all, done in Love. In this the LORD our God will be lifted up and his life magnified through us. This is how we must "rest" IN Him, and Him in us..."...and keep IT holy unto the Lord..." with a pure heart denying self.

God Bless...

The worship is actually on Sunday (not because it is the 1st day of the week) but rather it symbolized the 8th day (a new creation) when all the Sons of God shall be consecrated to Him. Of which the mail children were circumcised on the 8th day (forcasting this).

Maybe it's that we see some of the ten commandments as being a bit more important than others. Perhaps we're wrong in that, but when it gets right down to it, I suspect that God would considering coveting your neighbors's new call as being not quite as serious a sin as murdering him.

Here's a question. Why do you care? Why does it matter to you? Alot of Christians have already given you plenty of scripture to support our reason and you still are arguing with them. What is the point of asking if you don't want to be given an answer? And then you want to debate the ones you are given. Sounds like your fishing for fights to me.

You see God never said make the day holy, He said keep it holy, which would indicate that it was already holy and had been for some time. What I find interesting is that I don't know a single bible believing Christian who would knowingly break any of the 10 commandments, with the exception of the only one that starts with the word remember. The Sabbath was an agreement made between God and the Isrealites. When you read any new testament passage, never is it said in the New Testament Scriptures that Christians are to still keep the Sabbath day or TO KEEP THE SABBATH holy. Since Jesus came to fulfill the LAW and the Isrealites were under the Law, the Law because null and void the moment Jesus redeemed the world of its sins by dying for all of us. Before Jesus came into the world, the Law was given as a school master, as a tutor to keep Jews in line and obedient to God's will, but the Law was something that NOT ANYONE could ever keep in the first place. THANK GOD FOR JESUS!

Paul, in Galatians 3:19-25, gives us the reason and the purpose of the law to back up what I am saying and I hope this helps support my point:

19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.
22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.
24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
