How can Augusta be nowhere near the level of Madison, but you mention Augusta in the same tier as Greenville .... Greenville's MSA is 100k larger than Madison and the CSA is over 1 million people...

Raleigh, Madison, and Richmond do have tons of construction, but not on the level of Augusta btw 2010-2017...
Give it up. Augusta isn't in the same league as these other cities. Even with Madison being smaller than the other two, it is a state capital and it does house the state's flagship university. It's a much more important city.

To be honest its been just over a year since my last visit. Seems like to me you have a hard time accepting opinions that are not favorable to Augusta.

I had a feeling this thread would turn out like this. While Augusta is a nice Southern town it is definitely not Raleigh or Richmond. The urban fabric in Richmond, IMO, even leaves Charlotte's to be desire. And can Augusta be compared to Charlotte? I agree with what a poster said, Augusta is better suited for Huntsville, Shreveport, and Lexington. It's doing good things but even the amount of construction that is going on, it would need to do that for the next 20 years to get on their level.

Augusta looks totally diffrent compared to a little over a year ago...

Did you actually ''visit''(i.e downtown) Augusta??? Because you probably just you rode down I-20 on your way to Atlanta going to Birmingham.. I-20 runs through the suburbs and goes nowhere near downtown Augusta....

The people commenting on Augusta have never been there, haven't been there in years, or they're only experience is from riding down I-20...

Nortonguy, I quite aware that I-20 runs north of the downtown area, but to answer your question yes I did venture off I-20, drove around awhile, and to be honest while I put the metro in the same level as Huntsville and Lexington in terms of size, it also reminds me alittle of Montgomery. Im not trying to diss the area by my observations, but it is what it is.

Another thing nortonguy there is nothing wrong with promoting where you live, but to compare it to other metros that are larger and have more to offer is unfair to you and the metro. I assume nobody thinks Augusta is a dump, but its not on the same level as Richmond or Raleigh either.

Yeah..that's a good one. A city is totally different in a little more than a year. Thanks for the laugh!!!
