I have heard that those portions of NY and more north (Postam/Messina) get less snow on average, that true from what you experienced?

There is nothing in a state the size of England but New York City????

Its a well known fact that you can fit Vermont just in the Adirondack park alone. How can someone say seriously there is nothing outside the city in this state? So the upstate cities are in trouble --- so are many other older northern cities that relied on manufacturing and trade. They were betrayed by the Federal government NOT Albany. Even New York City itself suffered a population decline after WW2 before making its comeback in the last few decades.

I am not sure what's worse, the exaggerated complaints or attacks on different parts of New York, or the outright ignorance shown by people who should know better.

But never mind, lets keep feeding the anti-New York stereotypes folks!

Watertown gets it's share of snow, but not like say Syracuse. I think the further up you go, the colder it will get in the winter. So, I think that is the case with places like Massena or Malone.

Well most of us know of the positives and the negatives of Upstate/Downstate NY. It can easily be looked up, most of the information is already redundant. The question is if we should separate the state.

Financials are probably the most important factors here. So really what we need to know is where the actual state dollars are going to specifically. Either as a percentage or dollar amount. Does anyone know if NY posts a copy of the state budget?

The other questions would be what Upstate contributes to Downstate and visa versa.

Maybe if we stop the bashing, we can all learn something.

Well as near as I can tell, it doesn't say how the funds are distributed per city.
