A few days ago I got a message from one of the City Data members of the general opinion of the Colorado's western slope in general and Mesa County in particular. I hadn't seen a sizable thread regarding this part of the state on the Colorado forum for some time so I did some digging and got this thread up to date. The last post here was seven years ago and the thread started in 2012. Quite a few new things have gone on around here since the last post on this thread, I'll add some to this thread later.

I see that a great new rec center is either on the ballot or voted in already.

I meant to post a link to an article with far more background info but it goes to a stub with the same title. Oh well. Find it yourself if interested.

By not approving earlier and going big / fancy, the projected cost to pay off with interest is now over $2000 for every GJ resident on average via sales tax, though that is spread over decades.

We spent a few days in Grand Junction several years ago and were delighted with it. The downtown was thriving, unlike a lot of small towns we passed through. There was a nice little farmers market/art fair going on.

I got a big kick out of the street names: B 1/2 Road, B 4/10 Road, 28 1/2 Road, etc. I asked someone why they were named that way and got the answer, "Well, that's the way it is...." Works for me.

The north south streets are numbers and refer to how many miles east of the Utah border your are. So 28 road is 28 miles from Utah. The east west streets are alphabetical starting from Orchard Mesa on the south end of the county. A is Orchard Mesa and the letters go up as you go north.
It’s odd, but once you understand it, it makes navigation pretty easy.
The original downtown area has street names.

I pay $39/month for sewer/trash. $48/month for water.
