Sorry to hear the Chowderhouse did not make it in its new location. I liked the Manchester location because it was near the movie theaters and it was good and reasonably priced for seafood. Never made it to the new location. We do not get out to Vernon often. Jay

I just moved up to Hartford from LI (Nassau County as well) and there are a few things I miss...Chinese food being one of them, stores that stay open later than 7pm (that's only in downtown Hartford, where I live now) and Manhattan (I worked there, DON'T miss the commute but love the city) but I found that a decent slice of pizza can be had at Vito's by the Park in downtown Hartford...it's just a different vibe here, a bit more lax and it doesn't feel as cramped as the Island...and when I feel like headin home, its a 2 hour drive.

Scotcha,

I'm sure I had a similar culture shock when I moved from my area of Massachusetts to Nassau County on Long Island (just in the opposite direction). I do feel cramped and the pace of life is definitely much quicker, but the food is superior

Surprised you have not found any good Chinese restaurants in Hartford.

Try the Butterfly in West Hartford, also in WH Chengdu Asian Bistro.

Char-Koon is Glastonbury is excellent. Their sister restaurant in Middletown is Forbidden City on Man Street. Heard a lot of great things about there as well. Jay
