An interesting and artistic plan has been proposed for the Chapel Street bridge over the railroad tracks and the State Street intersection. It will be interesting to see if it gets built. Jay

That’s cool and makes sense.

With the hundreds of apartments and new retail space coming to Wooster Square soon, it needs a more welcoming connection to downtown. Right now it’s dark, spooky, and quite ugly.

I like the crosswalks painted with the area that road direction leads too. I haven't seen that before.

I like it too but I’m not sure it’s all that practical. You can see and understand it from the air but I’m not sure that would be true for a driver. More importantly though is that they do not conform to standards outlined in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. That could open up legal issues as well. Jay

I was thinking more from a pedestrian point of view as the article mentions when walking people may not know where the are when getting off at the train station. Hence putting that direction kiosk there as well. I agree it's not that practical while driving, that's what street names and signs are for. I wonder if they could put a version of the crosswalk area descriptions up high on the level of the traffic lights as well.

Yale New Haven Hospital’s massive new $838 million neuroscience center has the potential to grow the city’s 3conomy far beyond the center itself. Great news. Jay

There are a couple small but interesting projects in Wooster Square including an interesting new two-family home. I think they are overthinking the design a bit. It’s not like many would notice or care if the columns are fluted or not. Of course this is the the Historic District Commision’s job. JMHO.

A new Italian restaurant has also been approved in Wooster Square. It joins Frank Pepe’s, Sally’s among others and replaces the great Tony & Lucille’s which closed last year. The owner/chef is the former chef at Anthony’s Ocean View. Should be a nice addition. Jay

The building boom in New a Haven continues. Two new projects have been announced including a nine story apartment building at 232 State Street and a two story addition on top of the one story section at the back of the old Chapel Square Mall. Jay
