I think if this turns out to be extremely successful then more investors will come in. I am a little iffy on the hotel because there's 3 hotels on the same block. This hotel, the Hartford Hilton, and the Radisson. It's not going to be easy to see all of them 3 in the black. One of the 2 hotels or maybe both of them may lose revenue. The Ramada failed and the Radisson took over. Hopefully, the Hard Rock Hotel won't make the Radisson fall apart. Both of those hotels have been around since the 70's. It would be sad to see one of them go.

There's a proposal to convert at least some of the rooms at the Radisson to apartments:

I've never stayed at either the Hilton or Radisson, but I can't imagine they are very modern. Hartford could use a trendy, fun hotel. A lot of people do travel here for business and I am betting this would do very well.

Hmm...didn't know that. That's not bad of an idea especially since the demand is high for new apartments.

The Hartflrd Hilton was renovated back in 2005 but the renovations weren't massive. To be honest, I think Hartford has its fair share of hotels. We have the Hartford Hilton, Radisson, Residence Inn, Homewood Suites, Hartford Marriott, and now the Hard Rock Hotel. There's also a word from the new owner of Goodwin Square. He hopes to open up the Goodwin Hotel which closed its doors nearly 25 years ago. You also have the Hanpton Inn and the Holiday Inn right across the river in East Hartford. All of these hotels are within 3 miles of each other. It's a little excessive...

The Goodwin did not close 25 years ago. It closed at the end of 2008 when its owner, Northland, ran into problems during the financial crisis. It was foreclosed on and then sold. The new owners are making a significant investment in reopening the hotel. Should be a great asset to the city again. Jay

I think you're right. I must've been thinking of Parkview Hilton which closed 25 years ago and was eventually demolished. This hotel was right next to Goodwin Hotel.

The hotel will include a pool on its roof. That's neat. This hotel will mostly likely be 150-250ft tall. Though I could be wrong. This means it'll be one of the first high rises to be built in Hartford since the completion of Hartford 21 in 2006.

Great news but very interesting change. Hard Rock operates a number of casinos around the country as well. Wonder if this has anything to do with the proposal to build a casino in greater Hartford to stop the MGM Springfield casino from taking money outside of Connecticut. Still, it could be a great opportunity with the Infinity Music Hall, the Xfinity Meadows and the XL Center all in Hartford, could it become the next Music City of New England? Jay

Yes, you must be thinking of that one. Jay

Default Hard Rock Hartford

HARTFORD – Hard Rock International announced Monday that it planned to open Hard Rock Hartford in the Downtown North neighborhood.

Developed in collaboration with Centerplan Companies and managed by Hard Rock International, the 170-room hotel will be situated at the corner of Main and Trumbull Streets. The hotel would open in 2018.

I think you're on to something, Jay. If MGM wins its lawsuit in Connecticut, then Hard Rock would be presumably positioned to offer gaming in a prime location. Obviously, I hope this project proceeds regardless of what decision is reached in that case.
