This graph is more for the globe but you can assume the look for the U.S is similar with the 1992 drop

Is 2008 the last "real" year on that? I read that 2009 was a relatively cool year globally for the 21st century and wondered if it was as cool as 1992 or 1996 shows on that map.

1992 - That was a cool summer and year in general I remember, some were blaming it on the Mount Pinatubo volcanic explosion the year before in the Phillipines.
1983 was my first year of college and I do remember it being very warm. No AC back in those days.

1992 - I remember the volcano! They did say that was a cause of the cooler than normal summer.

lol. That's just an old graph that shows the Pinatubo results. You can google it to see if you can find an updated one.

Quick check.. Found another , only 3 yrs old. Use imagination of a spike back up last year because of El Nino again.

Lots of lawn mowers this weekend we'll be hearing. Espexially after all the rainy days we had. I know mine is due now.

Saturday looks to be the better day...for me. But a nice weekend for sure! Some say long overdue. I forgot to check the dewpoints but I bet dry which is great!

This is for north of coast. 3-5° cooler for the highs and warmer for the lows at the coast

Another morning below freezing here. 7 out of 13 days in April so far.

If BDL went below 30 it would be most # of times since 2003 by mid April. Oh well.

Normal amount of times in April for Bridgeport to go below freezing is 2. They have 5 already. Lets see if today makes 6.

A visual.... Number of days below freezing. Sorted by most for April. 1975 had the most with 11. 1966 with 7. We aren't far with this year.

Believe it or not 1966 was the coldest April on record, 1975 was 2nd

BDR hit 31 in between the hourly OBS. So ........ Bam. #6.

Only 3 years had more and we still have 17 days left to go. Although it gets harder now and I don't see it happening at least for next 7 days. But still impressive to see these cold nights past 2 weeks.

Why do they bother with these freeze warnings? Doesn't everyone know not to plant before Mother's Day?

Believe it or not 1966 was the coldest April on record, 1975 was 2nd

Some interesting unrelated things on that chart when you look at the monthly and yearly record stats:

It appears every day February 2015 was below freezing. I guess no leap years had 29 such days as the record is 28 set (or last set) last year. Probably a rare thing as the last January to have every day with a low below freezing according that chart was in 1981 and for December in 1989.

Also it says the least number of below 32 days for the year was 23 in 1948. That's probably incorrect, it's the first year BDR started officially recording weather and I bet they started midway or more likely even late in the year like November or December.
