Your issue seems to be with the salaries state employees receive. That's why I gave you a list of common state positions for you to tell us what they should be paid.

Here is your list again

Superiour Court Judge
Social Worker (aka DCF)
State Police
State prison guards
DMV clerks
Medical school professors
Snow plow drivers
Public Defenders
Civil engineers
DOL employees (aka the people who admin unemployment claims)

If you want to list all these positions at $12 an hour no benes that;s fine with me. I can assure you no ones going to apply though.

No one needs the Govt until they need the Govt. Sooner or later everyone finds that out and some will find out the hard way.
My issue is that the Democrats have had complete control in this State for the past 8 years, and previous to that, controlled the government much more than Republicans . They have failed the citizens of CT. Numerous tax increases still have not made a difference because of the tax and spend mindset of Democrats. What does it take to realize that the money is just not there ? We should be on an austerity budget. Besides the economic issues, the misconduct of State employees continues, and despite what your opinion , the list is lengthy. You don’t know what you don’t know. And please provide me with any other employment opportunities in this state that have a guarantee of employment. No layoffs for State Workers. And that is in an environment that saw many private sector workers not having raises in 10 years. Private sector workers that have lost their jobs because Democrats have failed to deliver opportunity. Is that too much to ask ? We pay enough, don’t you think?

You need to remember that the Government is there for the citizens, The Taxpayers. Not the special interest groups , the illegals, and the current fashionable cause to catch a sound bite on. While this State is teetering on a cliff of economic disaster, Our Governor and Senators the past two weeks are obsessed with the ijustice of the SCOTUS selection. A “ credible accusation “ is what our Governor had to say. Sure, throw the presumption of evidence and due process out the window, because from hundreds of miles away , he can tell what the truth is. Once gain, I have an open mind. I was a registered Democrat until I got to know some of them personally. Give me a reason why anyone should vote for them. Give me a reason why Lamont will deliver the goods when it will be the same old, same old Democratic behavior. Raise taxes, put in tolls, keep the Unions happy and keep the bloated status quo running on and on.

Supposedly, numerous organizations are against this (mostly representing hospitals) but for the life of me I can't see how a mandate like this would be bad. Am I missing something ? Only a matter of time before this floats down to CT.
Boston.com has a pretty good, seemingly non-biased, summary of all the perspectives and data on the matter. (That link goes right to the article)

I have a friend who works as a mental health specialist at a non-profit hospital, and she really believes that having to comply with the ballot measures would negatively impact her hospital’s ability to treat patients.

I am on the other flip of the coin working in mental health. Adequate staffing provides better care, less burnout, and creates a greater safety net. I can understand on the other coin how will healthcare facilities pay for increase numbers and how will this impact cost of care and quality of services provided. Those answers I do not know unfortunately.

Do believe hosoital matrices should be 1 nurse for 6 patients or less. 1 tech for 10 patients or less.

In the nursing homes 1 nurse for 10 patients or less and 1 tech for 10 patients or less.

Don't fall for the "all the wealthy are moving from CT" from the Republicans. I guess if you lie enough times you get the masses to believe it.

Connecticut’s Stamford metro area, which includes Norwalk and Bridgeport, has the highest concentration of millionaires in the U.S.

You know who is leaving CT.....probably the poor and middle classes. Every time I check (over the last 6 years) it looks like the wealthy in CT are doing fine and dandy.

The “ poor “ are staying , along with the illegals , since the welcome mat is out for all of them. The middle class is leaving , along with those that may have at one time been millionaires , but are no longer millionaires once they paid for the higher education of their children.

Do you have an unbiased source for this claim? Jay

As I asked many times here before, who is buying all the houses people are leaving behind ? No one can answer that.

Tell me what suburban town has huge swathes of empty houses. I have never seen this in CT.

Otherwise are we to believe that every one leaving CT are renters ? Then that would mean rent prices would decrease, but that isn't happening either.

So you know more than Kliplinger? Or are you just saying that because that is what the Republicans are telling you to think?

Income

Inbound Outbound
6.6% 0-49,999 4.35%
16.04% 50-74,999 15.22%
13.21% 75-99,999 18.12%
21.70% 100-149999 23.19%
42.45% 150 + 39.13%

Connecticut with a 57 percent move out rate, made the list of the top states people are leaving for the third consecutive year. It's the seventh year in a row that Connecticut has registered as having a "high outbound" or "medium outbound" rate. 2010 was the last year that the study found Connecticut to have a balanced inbound/outbound rate.
The top reason people moved out of Connecticut was for a job. The biggest age group moving out of Connecticut was age 55 to 64 and the majority of the people who left were earning an income of $150,000 or more

Source: CT Post

More lower income coming in than out
55-64 is an age group that are parents to graduated College students

These are some of the consequences of 8 years of a Democratic Governor and Legislature
